Next week's polls to favor her more than last week's, primarily because trump sounded like a putin-loving dictator.

sometimes up to a week or more. There is that SurveyMonkey thing that attempts to be "instantaneous" but I'm not sure how well that works yet. What we have now should be a "bottom" following her convention bounce. I suspect polls for Clinton will be going up starting Mon the 12th and not look back after that.

I hope you are right. Do you think her comment will hurt at all or is it a "wash" with what trump said.

I don't think it will have a large affect. Perhaps a short term dip of a point or two, but not outside of the MOE.

JMO, of course, but the people who get butt hurt about it won't flip to Clinton anyway, and her supporters.....well, they agree and support her. Indies might waver a bit, but Trump's negatives should override it.

So, short term, I think it's a wash. Long term, it will probably help.

JMO, of course.

The optimal time to hit Hillary for good effect would have been the beginning of last week, to finish off a several week slide in her poll numbers. Instead they tweeted out some pdfs they scraped from the internet (not even a leak) about an earpiece she supposedly wore at a UN conference. And her poll numbers have stabilized now and maybe rebounded a bit.

That is the weakest of weak sauce. If they had anything they would have used it. Holding onto info never makes sense, you never know if the opportunity you are waiting for will be better than the one you've currently got.
