Hillary Clinton has just experienced something that other women understand completely!

And many men, too, I might add.

It's the experience of being sick, but having a job to do. So you don't wimp out. You push the limits. Because you know you have to.

I wish her a speedy and complete recovery. I hope she can find a little down time to properly take care of herself. I doubt that will be possible, but it is important.

She's human. What a surprise.

in close to 40 years of self employment (now retired) I only once put a note on the door saying : "sick"
and a number of times threw up in my mouth a bit (from illness) and swallowed it, when talking to a customer.

I noticed without any doubt in my mind yesterday that Secretary Clinton was ill. I watched an interview and she was slow and more deliberate and her voice was weak and breaking. I attributed it to a cruel schedule that would sink anyone over age 45, and considered she was actually sick.

I am waiting for the Head Deplorable to express sympathy.

We're kind of a screwed up country with this stuff (well, maybe others are too, but I see it here)

This may be the only time in living memory that Republicans are solicitous about a woman's health.

Fortunately, pneumonia can be cured.

Not so fortunately for Trump - they can't fix stupid.

Just a really great point! It could well be that this is the only example we have - of republi-CONS concerned about a woman's health. I notice that The Donald has been remarkably (AND uncharacteristically) low-key about this. What? No snide remarks? No new and even more insulting nicknames (surely he can make something of this that tops "Crooked Hillary," 'eh)? No mean-spirited "impersonations" of a sick woman as he came up with to spoof that reporter with disabilities? He must be having an off day. Either that or Kellyanne and friends probably leaned on him hard, to behave himself, or risk turning her into a sympathetic character.

Before I retired, I was about 60 then, and my allergies had morphed into a cough, same as Hillary, At work, we were in the middle of a big project, working long hours, so put off going to the doctor. Then started feeling worse, had difficulty breathing, went to see my doctor, he told me I had pneumonia. He gave me some antibiotics and breathing treatments. I stayed off work for a few days and it cleared up. No big deal and Hillary will be back on her feet soon too - no big deal. Lady Democrats are tough!

He's a 70yo man (men have shorter lifespans than women), overweight, eats bad food, doesn't sleep, unstable personality. Who knows what he could have, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, insomnia, psychosis, etc. He could drop like a bag of dirt today, yet the media does not seem to care. While Hillary is far more transparent.

Clearly a gender double standard. There have been many male candidates and officials with health issues. Reagan was very old and likely had symptoms of alzheimers well before he left office, Cheney had severe heart issues.

Aside from sexism, the right always tries to push the narrative that Dems are weak, often using health conspiracies to do it. They spread rumors that Dukakis saw a psychiatrist for depression, even St. Ronnie (ever the statesman) stated that he "doesn't attack invalids" when the press asked him about it.

It does compel one to wonder what he's hiding. Same thing with his still-unreleased tax returns. If there were nothing dubious or harmful or compromising in them, he'd have issued them all a year ago. With Trump trumpets honking a noisy fanfare.

croup, flu, colds, etc, etc. and when my mom took ill - I would use it to care for her. That meant that there were times I would be at work, sick as a dog. Of course I had to pretend I was fine, and tough it out - couldn't show any sign of weakness. This is not unique to me - my female coworkers were/are in similar situations. Now that my kids are grown, I have lots of sick leave saved up.

on CNN saying Hillary needed to inform the public of her medical condition. Women don't generally do this. They keep things like this to themselves and soldier on. They are usually busy taking care of others - at least that is my experience.

It was unseasonably hot day. I worked very hard since morning. I skipped breakfast as usual and ate my lunch around 11:30 at near by ACed cafe. Well, shortly after that, I became dizzy.

My husband, who is more than 10 years younger than me, took over. Around 2:30, thunderstorm started and I went back to the yard sale park and do the wrap up with him. IN the rain. Actually, I felt much better after working in the rain.

I had a serious case of heat exhaustion.

By the way, I partially blame Hilary's stylist. She should have worn something less hot and stifling. She was wearing clothes that fit under 60's degree not high 70 or 80 degree.

But I don't think the schedule of a President is comparable to a candidate jetting around the country. I'm certainly NOT trying to minimize the stress factor that goes along with the office of President.

But the travel alone for candidates with all of the ancillary stuff such as quality of air on airliners, never sleeping in the same bed, contact with voters at rallies that may have something contagious developing, etc. is quite rigorous.

At least the President sleeps in the same bed most nights and has someone watching out for his health by way of a chef and a Physician.

Have you noticed that the apocalyptic stories about HRC were written by men, who think God is punishing them when they get a cold. This shows Hillary’s strength, keeping up with her rigorous schedule while feeling under par. Do not bet against strong women.

A lot of people don't get sick days. I once had a job that did have sick days but they fired me when I actually took them. Ideally people should stay home when they're sick but it isn't always possible.

It is a necessary thing. Because so many times there isn't sick leave, there isn't paid time off, there isn't anyone else to take care of things, and in Hillary's case, there's only ONE Democratic Presidential candidate. As I said in my original post - women understand this. (And I also included many men). If you take time off, you're deemed "weak" or "infirm". Incapable of handling the job, the stress, the responsibilities.

Women (and some men) have been made to feel that way because of pressures from society.

Don't give in to the media speculation as to "infecting others". We have no way of knowing at this moment in time whether or not anything that Clinton has was ever contagious.

People who are older and exhausted are more susceptible to pneumonia taking hold in their lungs than someone who is young and rested. Furthermore, probably half the cases of pneumonia are undiagnosed. Ever have a cold that just wouldn't go away? There's a good chance it was pneumonia. I've had it 3 times and I'm only 60.

I picked up a virus once, told my husband I felt like crap early in the morning. He left for work, not lifting a finger to help me get the kids ready for school. He was a little pissed that I didn't have dinner made that night, even though I had taken care of the kids, taken one to speech therapy after school, paid bills, picked up his dry cleaning, and cleaned house and did laundry.

The next day he had it. Couldn't even drag his ass out of bed. He whined all day. I gave him the "I told you I was sick" speech, without empathy since I had received none. He apologized the next day. Now he pays attention if I tell him "I'm sick."
