NBC News: Does Hillary have a classic case of walking pneumonia?

http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/hillary-clinton-classic-walking-pneumonia-n646516

Hillary Clinton's wobbly incident Sunday is a near-textbook case of what can happen with "walking pneumonia" — patients don't feel great, but they're not sick enough to stay home in bed or to be hospitalized.

Clinton caused daylong speculation when she left a Sept. 11 memorial service in New York on Sunday morning and was seen being helped into an SUV, none too steady on her feet.

It turns out it was pneumonia and dehydration, said Dr. Lisa Bardack, who examined her at her home in Chappaqua.

She's had it for a while.

"Secretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia," Bardack said in a statement.

Same story. Going to work, shoveling the snow, acting like he was ok. Then he passed out in the living room.

Any attempt by the Trump campaign to turn this into the Black Plague has to be shut down immediately.

2. I have, too. I've felt worse with colds -- and much worse with the flu.

Walking pneumonia can occur with a low or no fever, just a cough that drags on and on.

For someone accustomed to an allergic cough, it could be hard to tell when it crossed the line into pneumonia.

Allergies are so bad for us asthma sufferers. A simple cold, 75% of the time, becomes a 4-week battle with bronchitis / pneumonia.

I wish Secretary Clinton well.

And it can be very hard to tell when the usual problem with allergies and an allergic cough (a form of asthma) has transitioned to a lung infection.

they either pass out or are so weak they can't get themselves to bed. Three in my family have had it in the last month. What a lousy time of year to have it, since the temps have been so high.

12. I have had two bouts of pneumonia in the past 11 months.

The first was in Nov. of last year. I had to go to ER, but I was given an antibiotic infusion and sent home. This past August it hit me again. The doctor put me in the hospital four days. I did not feel bad enough to be in the hospital, but the doctor insisted because pneumonia could be fatal. I am 77 years old, but I recovered quickly with the help of massive doses of antibiotics.

My allergies are that severe. My doctor put me on a round of Cipro and it cleared up. Strange thing is, now I do not get summer colds anymore. They use to kill me in the summer time, my nose would hurt like it was going to fall off.

I might have had it for almost 2 months, thank goodness I realized that it was not just allergies.

This explains her constant cough and the coughing fits, I hope she gets better ASAP.

Sorry, not trying to make fun, just couldn't help myself.

I wonder if it would have been best for Hillary to have taken one of the pneumonia vaccines that are available now? It is supposed prevent 13 different strains of the disease. Those vaccines are highly recommended for people over 60, probably under the assumption that older folks have lower immunity responses.

Also, the grueling schedule she has been keeping can't have a good affect on her immune system either, there is now way I could keep up with her schedule. When you get run down physically, your immune system doesn't work as well as it should and you become susceptible to stuff that you would normally ward off easily.

Here's hoping for her quick recovery.

15. She probably has, but they don't work against the most common cause of walking pneumonia.

What is walking pneumonia?

The type of pneumonia Clinton has is unknown. But walking pneumonia is a very common type of the disease that does not require a hospital stay. People with walking pneumonia, which is often caused by a bacteria called Mycoplasma pneumoniae, often feel well enough to go about their daily activities and work. It may feel like they have a bad cold or a case of the flu. Anyone can contract walking pneumonia, which can be more frequent in the late summer and early fall, and people who work in crowded places are thought to be at a higher risk for getting it.
