when there is an issue? Hillary's health, the delorable comment which is true, is not going to be an issue,
She is going to win, her campaign is brilliant, the GOTV apparatus is strong, way better than the GOP
She has great chances to pick off a few red states, yet I come here and it seems all doom and gloom
I leave depressed here sometimes need a break from the negativity, but I still love you DU family!

(32,080 posts)Just a segment of DU, usually a relatively small one does. Plenty of people try to talk down them down--or confront the ones that are obviously concern trolls.

(32,080 posts)This kind of crap used to annoy me. But, I have been around long enough to know that most of these hair-on-fire events play out the same way, and that the vast majority are a "Much ado about nothing." Now, I just sit back, roll my eyes, shake my head, and wait until it passes. Which it will. Hopefully soon.

(31,233 posts)alarmists, whether they come from the left or the right. It's the same with polls. Those of us who dealt with the concern trolls in '08 & '12 just don't give a shit what the Debbie Downers have to say. They have one job, and that's to bring everyone down. They are the reason (as the o.p. stated) some people leave here feeling very depressed. We know who they are, and Skinner has made it very easy to ignore them.

(1,353 posts)But I think the horror show of Trump and the media even slightly suggesting he can win can set off boogie man sirens in us?
I KNOW she will win and maybe the Trump threat is somewhat good to keep up the GOTV enthusiasm??

Something happens, concern trolls ramp up the concern, people freak.

(6,280 posts)..... and none of that other shit will matter. This election will be a landslide of epic proportions and a whole lot of of people will be scratching their heads wondering how a media built fantasy could have influenced their behavior so much. I live in a fairly good-sized City in Northern Louisiana and I have seen one political sign. It was a while back in in an upper scale neighborhood and it was a Cruz sign in someone's front yard. I drive the main strip everyday to work and back and I have been looking. Not one political bumper sticker have I seen in 2 years. Although Louisiana will definitely go to Trump I have not observed the anger panic and anxiety that I have read on Democratic Underground from people all over the country. Although I have met very few people who will vote for Clinton I have met more people who say they simply will not vote for Trump. I think this election process, in the end, will prove to be Much Ado About Nothing. Kelly Ann's prediction that people will vote for Trump secretly because they are ashamed to admit it will go both ways. Right-wingers will stay home or vote Clinton. They just won't ever admit it.

(30,058 posts)Why does everyone on DU seem to panic when there is an issue?
Well, first of all "everyone" doesn't panic.
I'll tell you why some people are concerned. Hillary is running against a candidate who has lied, bullshitted, and manipulated people unlike anyone else in politics. He says one thing, then says another, and then changes his mind again. He doesn't give details on important issues and gives incoherent responses to that literally make no sense.
There is no line he won't cross... and tens of millions of people are following him.
The fact that he is the Republican nominee is reason to be concerned. The fact that this race isn't an obvious landslide victory for Hillary at this point is reason to be concerned.
I'm in Central PA. I see the shit Trump has stirred up in people. And believe me, it's not going to go away when he loses the election. There is a lot of be concerned about and things that could get worse.

(16,399 posts)I just want her to completely recover and be 100%. It annoys me she was diagnosed with this Friday and went ahead with her schedule anyway, and yeah that made things worse.
People here are even going so far as to say pneumonia is "no big deal" which is completely and totally irresponsible for people who've never had it and might someday and get that in their head. It is nothing to fuck with.

(9,888 posts)Maybe not everybody is quite as optimistic as you are.
There was a time when I thought a dim bulb with a cocaine history couldn't even get nominated, much less elected. Boy, was I wrong.
Not long after, I never figured the Supreme Court would decide to stop counting votes in an American Presidential election. It did.
Then there was a time when I didn't think a dim bulb with a lousy track record as President and a fake military history could get re-elected over a smart guy with a real military history. Wrong again.
So color me uneasy until I see Hilary standing in front of the Capitol in January with her hand on a Bible.
