Trump Says He ‘Helped a Little Bit’ With Ground Zero Clean-Up

Donald Trump told supporters that he “helped a little bit” with the clean-up at Ground Zero after the Sept. 11 attacks.

“Everyone who helped clear the rubble, and I was there, and I watched, and I helped a little bit, but I want to tell you, those people were amazing, clearing the rubble, trying to find additional lives, you didn’t know what was going to come down on all of us, and they handled it,” Trump said.

The GOP frontrunner made the remarks at the same Buffalo, New York rally when he inadvertently referred to 9/11 as “7-11.”

Washington Post‘s Philip Bump noted that contemporaneous reporting indicated Trump certainly visiting Ground Zero after the attacks. New York Newsday wrote that the businessman appeared on the site two days afterward with “every hair in place and impeccably dressed in a black suit, pressed white shirt and red tie, walking into the plaza with his cellular phone to his ear.” This was the same day he gave this interview with a German TV station, where he was supportive of the search-and-rescue effort and optimistic about re-building, but made no reference to having personally helped out.

"I helped a little bit"

He cannot even praise the workers at Ground Zero without making it at least a little bit about him. How much more dysfunctional can a person get?

Seriously. Something in his brain makes him utterly unable to praise anybody, even the self-sacrificing people who risked life and limb and PTSD for the benefit of their fellow human beings, without making it about himself.

As if in a million years anybody in charge would have welcomed the intrusion of Donald Trump into the work on the pile.

after all these years gone by are still pulling out the rubble out of the tragedy looking to profiteer politically and otherwise.Trump backed out of it a bit by turning the praise over to the volunteers but he had to drop himself into the center of the activities to do it.
Christie used his mary pat fabrication to no seeming end. And Rudy-well he's rudy. And the band plays on.How can anyone forget Rudy on tv election night when Bush got in the second time.Noone can forget that.

or some such shit?

By weeks end his story will be that he jumped off one of the towers and survived.

That guy has a conscience that is so dead he could shoot someone on 5th avenue in New York and claim it was a noble act.

9. In a catastrophe like that, no one helps "a little bit".

There was so much clean up and rescuing to be done that if he was there to 'help', he would have shown up in overalls and protective gear and spent days like others who truly cared.

He didn't care, and he didn't help.

Trump was no where near the place,
unless he was signing up for aid he didn't deserve.

Donald Trump needs to be criticized for making that comment unless he can prove that it is true. It is extremely wrong for him to claim he helped out at ground zero. The men and women who actually worked to remove debris and bodies from ground zero put their health at risk to perform those tasks.
