Related: About this forumHow to get Trump's tax returns??
The thread "NY Times Editor Said He'd Risk Jail To Publish Trump's Taxes" has this response:
I work for the IRS and I can't imagine a single IRS employee would risk leaking his return.
The penalties and ramifications are swift and extremely severe to any employee who accesses records without a business reason to do so. I can't even access my own records. Every keystoke is recorded and cross referenced to prevent unauthorized viewing. If I even remotely know an old neighbor from 20 years ago I cannot assist them. Period NO exceptions.
Fair enough. It's good to know the IRS is on the ball.
But what about the CPA's and attorneys who created the tax returns?
Does anyone know if there are penalties if one of them leaks the returns?
If one of them did, would it be illegal to publish them?
In other words are there any laws against leaking or publishing tax returns if you're not an IRS employee?
Just wondering.

(115,656 posts)1. Attorneys and accountants have a duty to maintain the confidentiality
of their clients' communications and records. Those people could lose their licenses if they leaked someone's tax returns.

(150 posts)4. Agreed but . . .
. . . if they thought he was a sufficiently large threat . . .
. . . or if someone offered them enough money
I could see it happening, even if they lost their license.

President of the must powerful country in the world, that it would be heroic.

to get a casino license. I wonder how long ago that was, and if the records can be retried through a FOIA.

If they haven't even closed out audits from what 2009? What are the chances they will get to 2016 before the elections? Zip and he knows it.
