I have lived in the Caribbean for the last 27 years ( the VI in my name stands for Virgin Islands ) so I have better things to do than watch TV (the beach). We did not even have a movie theater on the island. The funny thing is I worked on Broadway so I knew and palled around with John Travolta, Treat Williams, Marilu Henner, Kelly Bishop, Samuel E. Wright, Bonnie Franklin, and Ann Reinking before they became celebrities. They were just normal people, nothing special and hardly worth noticing.

I think you are coming down too hard on him. I recognized 3 of the folks and can only name two. But I am over 50 and just do not go to movies or watch network TV.

Sometimes we fuddy-duddies like to remind others that not everyone keeps up with pop culture.

That said I realize that the ad is aimed at Millennials and I think it is brilliant. Had it been done in 1979 I would have recognized all the stars.

Have a nice evening.

I play Kerbal Space Program and only watch baseball games. The last Movie I saw in the theater was some batman movie which involved climbing out of a pit or some such. . The one I saw before that was the first New Start Trek.

And now that you mention Robert Downey Jr, I do remember seeing his face+name together on some ad or cover.

But the ad wasn't aimed at any of us.

What we CAN do with it is to pass the link along to people we might know who would rather stay home and watch TV than go out and vote . . . It might work.

I was not being critical of these actors. I am glad they are on our side. But they are just doing their job. No job is special after you have done it for a couple of years. It is not like it is dangerous where they are putting their lives on the line. They have talent but without the director and the writers and other support personnel, you would not know who they are. I could tell some stories, but it would not serve any purpose to do so.

...by younger, of age voters, lots of them. It really doesn't matter if we recognize them. They're breaking the fourth wall and admitting that they're using actors to sell this point, thus engaging the viewers, luring them into it, so they laugh and feel that they do matter, and they are in a conversation with these actors, not just being getting a message/lecture. It's funny, heartwarming, serious, and nicely done. If it gets even a small percentage of those movie goers, those comic-con fans, those fans of Whedon tv shows to register and vote, it's all good.
