argument for independents: hillary==checks and balances; trump== uncheck, republican government

the house will be republican regardless.

with a president hillary, that will mean much of what an independent might fear simply won't happen because the house won't pass it. gridlock. moreover, the house will impeach at the drop of the hat, giving hillary a strong incentive to walk the straight and narrow. the senate wouldn't vote to remove, but the mere threat of impeachment and the big embarrassment and distraction that that entails is enough to provide a good check on hillary.

with a president trump, the republicans would control everything. any reasonable scenario where trump wins the presidency also gives republicans the senate, followed shortly by a tie-breaking republican on the supreme court. this means that republicans will have a field day passing whatever they want virtually unchecked.

as worrisome as that can be in a normal year with a generic president, it's especially scary when the president is as unpredictable as trump.

even if people want a little "change", what we'll end up with is way, way too much change.

And the fact that he will leave a lot of policy work to Pence. Except the shit that helps him settle his debts to China and Russia and elude taxes.
