Andrea Mitchell's emails leaked..

It may not be a shock to her viewers, but NBC journalist Andrea Mitchell is not a fan of Donald Trump -- and leaked emails from June apparently show her describing the prospect of Trump getting the Republican nomination as “awful.”

Emails between former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Mitchell from June, and leaked this month by DC Leaks, begin with a fairly standard journalist’s request for comment after former Bush deputy secretary of state Richard Armitage announced he was backing Hillary Clinton for president.

“Armitage now supporting her? Are you going to endorse? Wondering,” Mitchell asks Powell.

Powell brushes off the question and notes that Armitage has been saying this in public for a while. But then in an email chain dated June 17, Mitchell tells Powell that she thinks Republicans need to find a way to avoid nominating Trump.

“I know trump controls the convention rules committee but I keep thinking they have to find a way not to nominate him,” she tells Powell.

Powell responds by telling her he thinks Trump will get the nomination, and notes that Ryan has declared he is sticking with Trump.

“I don't see how. Even Paul Ryan in today's papers says he has problems, but is sticking with him. Trump is his own best critic right now. Be careful not to give him critics he can attack and divert attention. I assume he will get the nomination. Then the game is on,” Powell responded.

Powell’s outlook is not an optimistic one for Mitchel, who then responds: “It is awful,” apparently referring to Trump’s nomination.

Mitchell did not respond to a request for comment from FoxNews.com

7. I think she treats HRC as a serious statesman, politician and holds her to account

She was often very complementary when HRC was Secretary of State and when she stepped down. As the foreign relations reporter she often accompanied Clinton on her trips.

I suspect that Mitchell personally might be somewhere near a GHWB Republican on foreign policy, which is her main area of reporting. This email suggests she has a friendly relationship with Powell and that she is absolutely horrified by Donald Trump. I think Andrea Mitchell can be one of the better journalists on the topic of foreign policy. I really do not buy that she has any special hatred for Clinton. (While she is not always positive about John Kerry as Secretary, I do not see her coverage as uniformly negative. She was also not all that positive in her coverage of the Bush administration. )

I think she has credited Clinton on being an able secretary of state. She has faulted Clinton for the way she handled the various questions on her email and the Foundation. Yet, if Clinton were a Republican and done the same things, we would be calling her out. Of course, nothing that has been found out about either of these things - though annoying as they were completely out of step with the Obama guidelines - come near to the many improprieties that have been found inTrump's various businesses and charities - and he didn't have the stricter rules a government has!

From this private email, it sounds like she is trying to appear impartial in public. It may be that the concept of "even handedness" is the root of her (and many others in medias) inability to straight forwardly say what was said in some recent newspaper endorsements -- that while Clinton has her flaws, Trump is completely unacceptable.

Still, I have never seen the level of defensiveness of the candidate as there is this year.

8. No way. The pneumonia incident more than anything exposed Mitchel for her personal

bias. Mitchell's declaration after the NY/NJ bombings that trump was tough on terror, but Clinton was "off message", bullshit.

Mitchell is NOT a fair an impartial journalist, and I use that word with hesitation when referring to Ms. Mitchell.

As for the emails, Hillary has answered numerous times, yet they still harp on it. She said it was a bad judgement, and regretted it, yet with all the issues in this election, this is the one that they keep harping on? Of course that was before the Pneumonia, when they all went into a feed frenzy, and Mitchell was right in the front.

You wonder why there is the level of defensiveness of the candidate this year? It isn't rocket science. There is a double standard going on.

The Matt Lauer interview, and aftermath by the extremely well paid talking heads demonstrated that.

For the first half of questioning Lauer questioned Hillary about the emails. He kept interrupting her, wouldn't let her finish answering questions, and was generally hostile. When Mr. Trump's turn came it was essentially hands off. The double standard was never more clear, and when the talking heads came out they characterized Hillary as, "defensive, wouldn't smile, didn't answer questions" etc.

What this election has exposed is the sexist, misogynistic, media and society we live in. That isn't being defensive, it is what it is. Hillary is held accountable for everything, whether she was involved or not. Mr. Trump is held to nothing.

"Hillary is shrill, she shouts, she angry all the time". The sky would fall if they ever characterized a man as such.

She wanted the Republican Party to pick someone else who would have a easier path to beat Hillary.

She just wanted to make sure that the best possible, in her twisted mind, Repub won, and didn't think Dump was viable. Since he got the nod, though, she's been doing everything she can for him and, naturally, against Hillary.

Fox spreading rumors that Andrea Mitchell is anti Trump? I call bullshit. This is just a way to tamp down the huge anti Mitchell sentiment help by most news viewers. The woman is as pro-republican as they come. Her hate for the Clintons is obvious to the point of legend.
