NBC News: Presidential Debate: Donald Trump's Remark About Paying Taxes Raises Eyebrows

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/2016-presidential-debates/presidential-debate-donald-trump-s-remark-about-paying-taxes-raises-n655261

Hillary Clinton's suggestion Monday that maybe Donald Trump doesn't pay income tax prompted the Republican candidate to interject: "That makes me smart."

The remark came in a segment about Trump's refusal to release his tax returns during Monday night's debate.

The Democratic candidate seized on the controversial issue and offered a series of possible explanations for why the billionaire won't follow presidential-election precedent and release the returns.

"Maybe he's not as rich as he says he is," Clinton offered up. "Maybe he's not as charitable as he claims to be."

Trump performed intercourse well upon himself.

It is unpatriotic to pay taxes for the greatest country in the world if you love America as you say you do.

Taxes pay for the things that make and keep this country great: clean water, food safety, road, bridges, even stadiums, FEMA. Fire safety, law enforcement, farm subsidies, bank subsidies, business subsidies., education. Why wouldn’t someone want to pay their fair share of taxes?

Most of the taxes are paid by people living and working in those blue states and most of the recipients of those taxes are the people who live and work in the middle of the country…those “red” states. FEMA is just one example but those farm subsidies are another, roads, bridges etc. Donald Trump says our taxes are wasted. Is this what he really thinks about those red state people?

Trump cites tax rates for businesses as being too high, Hillary needs to point out the actual tax rates that businesses pay and have paid, The facts are out there. Talk about what our companies that make their wealth here pay to foreign countries. Whatever they pay there means they pay NONE here and yet they make their money here and carry out their business here.

If you want to know what happens when citizens refuse to pay their fair share to pay for the services and protections that their governments provide, take a look at Greece. They took pride in not enforcing their tax laws and consequently their tycoons paid little or not taxes and the government did nothing to collect them. The entire nation went bankrupt…is this what we really want for our children?

Trump thinks taxes are WASTED...so I wonder what he really thinks of his base.

Really need to be put on record with how that squares with supporting the military. In their defense, many people were smart enough to avoid being sent to fight in that war. My father volunteered to serve in the Air Force rather than take a chance on getting a low number and being sent into combat. Others joined the Nat Guard or found "creative" ways to not go. It's amazing to me that after all this time NO ONE will admit that that war was unnecessary since we currently have cordial relations with Vietnam (I recognize that a lot of people sacrificed and were sacrificed in that war). In a lot of ways our lack of frank discussions about the Vietnam War color how we are currently handling what's going on in the Middle East.

It's Congress -- that's where the tax laws (and loopholes) are created. Fix taxation by fixing Congress.

Trump would eagerly sign laws that cut taxes for the rich, as he indicated last night.

This is not just on Congress.

Who the President is matters. A lot.

Worse than that, when Hillary said the thing about him taking advantage of the housing crisis and his response was, "that's business"

Anyone who claims THAT on national TV in a presidential debate, with a third of the nation looking on, definitely is not as smart as he claims to be!

Trump is a coward:

1) He fears honesty

2) He avoids strong people

3) He hangs out with weak-minded people he thinks he can take advantage of

4) He manipulates words to manipulate people

5) He never apologizes

6) He lay blames on everyone and everything else

7) He makes up excuses and confuses excuses for reasons

8) He buys into mainstream excuses and thinks it’s ok because everyone else believes the same

9) He’s a crybaby and creates drama to hide the fact that he's screwed up up

10) He likes to put on a show. And it has no ending

11) He’s a bully

12) He seeks validation only

13) He fights back not because he’s right, but to cover up his flaws

to release his tax returns wasn't offensive enough. As a middle/working class American his blatant arrogance combined with his disdain for responsibility and fairness is maddening. All these years we have paid our taxes and our bills. According to the way of Trump, we could just "take advantage of the laws of this country" (if they favored working people) thereby avoiding paying taxes and wait to be sued and get a judgment against us before we paid our bills. He and his contempt for America are sickening.

And owes $650M. So he should pay on the $44million profit, right?
