...a woman should fall silent when a man speaks, and Hillary's refusal to defer to him when he interrupted her, probably ticked them off.

It reminds me of a commentary that Sheryl Sandberg wrote about studies where a man spoke versus when a woman spoke, and the implicit bias that many successful women must deal with.
