But for Trump, talking to anyone who doesn't absolutely adore him and think he's tremendous(!) is Kryptonite.
snip
Trump is like a walking Dumpster fire just waiting for some gasoline to unleash a pyrotechnic eruption. Nothing was more evident during Monday night's debate than his bottomless need to defend himself against even the smallest unflattering remark, like the fact that he started his company with a "small" million dollar loan from his Daddy.
snip
His outsized defensiveness isn't occasional or optional, it's compulsive. You can count on it every time. That's not something you can train out of someone in a couple weeks. In fact, Trump's campaign staff couldn't even properly prep him for the very controlled environment of one moderator and one opponent. Relatively speaking, a town hall will be more like pushing that Dumpster fire over a field of land mines.
I can't wait to see him blowup at some voter for attacking his ego and seal the election for the Dems!!

(68 posts)LOL- If he actually attacks Hillary in a forum like this he is done.

(36,437 posts)I wouldn't talk up the idea of Trump melting down.
He's a shrewd and fast learner.
Surely he knows now that he got red ass spanked in front of 80 million, even if he weirdly thinks it's good rhetoric to deny that.
He won't have prepared, but he's salesy enough not to shit on an audience member.

(5,399 posts)I see no evidence that he's is a fast learner. On the contrary, I think he believes that there is nothing he doesn't already know. He is a walking definition of hubris.

(889 posts)GMAFB. There's nothing about the GE campaign he is running that suggests that.
See, Obama is a shrewd and fast learner. So is Hillary. That's what it looks like.

(45,806 posts)How many posts have you seen describing how he won't pay attention to his handlers on remaining cam, and overlooking small slams. How he declined to prepare for the debate because he relies on his instincts.
His super ego and uncontrollable temperament prevent him from listening or learning anything!

(156 posts)He can abuse a member of the public asking him a question. Especially if they are black, Muslim, Hispanic, a woman, LGBT, or disabled.
He doesn't learn as he is pathological and a narcissist. The traits he has he can not control. Not for longer than 30mins and not against anyone he perceives as inferior to him. Which is almost everyone

It might have been my subject line though. I think someone else tried to start one and it sank too so I was going for something to get people to look, but no dice.

(7,018 posts)that many Repubs. felt compelled to defend every single little criticism. They can't help it. I
still drop in there once in a blue moon. These Repubs. haven't changed at all. That's the
way they are. And Donald is one of the same type.

(14,563 posts)He has to have absolute control over everything and this will have even less control and more moving parts than he will be comfortable with.
I am pretty sure that questions will vetted and people asking them will be respectful in words and tones to him (wtf knows what some asshole R will do with Hillary.
But, the audience will be interactive this time, and he will get a little boost being able to feed off the adoring adulation from the Rs.

1. Why do you hate America?
2. Why did you order the killing of 4 Americans at BenGHAZI?
3. Why did you send confidential emails to our enemies?
4. Why do you love ISIS more than US servicemen and women?
5. Were you on the grassy knoll?
You know, intelligent questions from REAL Americans.
Geez, this is going to be a s*** show.

(52,196 posts)she's been asked obnoxious and insulting and slimy questions for over 25 years, she can handle it.
trump can't.
in fact, trump is likely to have a meltdown even after the anti-hillary questions. they'll only egg him to pile on and amp it up.

(6,913 posts)If he says no, then ask why he keeps bringing up Bill's escapades as an attack on Hillary.
If he says yes, well...in my dreams, I guess...ask him about whether he believes in personal responsibility for moral failings.
