So Hillary used the same tax laws for her 2015 taxes. OK but we know what her taxes were.

The Clintons actually paid taxes. Warren Buffet was the one who told them they were overpaying their taxes, wasn't he?

Boris Epstein is a crooked Russian pawn who influences Trump 'bigly.'

Someone needs to put him in his place.

2. I once heard that a wise rich person tends to over-pays taxes

Then when audited, they are rewarded rather than punished. But then I come from a tradition that says "Never say no when you can say yes, never be closed-fisted when you can be open-handed and never turn down the chance to help someone in need."

and I'll say it again. The tax issue is a loser - so much better stuff out there to go after. People pay the taxes their bookkeepers tell them to. Bookkeepers try to get the lowest possible by law - that is there job! This is true for Trump, true for Clinton, and its true for me. I pay what my bookkeeper tells me I owe and I want him to get the lowest number he can for me. If he doesn't get the lowest for me I'll fire him and find someone else.

The tax issue should be we need to reform the tax code so rich people (like Trump) pay their fair share! That's the winning issue.

4. the tax issue peels away male swing voters who might buy the "smart businessman" BS

the misogyny issue peels away (and motivates) female swing voters.

this race is about the margins at this point. .4% here, .3% there. getting into the weeds on progressive tax reform is not a sound-bite level issue, and that's what low-info voters hear.

Clinton's people are playing this smartly.

5. Really? It's a loser for Trump, for sure.

And you're defending him, or his bookkeeper? Really?

I do my own taxes as a self-employed person. I'd like to pay less, but I pay what I owe. That's the law. That's being honest.

Donald Trump is not honest, and he pays no taxes at all. You do the math.

7. You made my point...

There are years (awhile back) when I paid no taxes and in fact got tax credits!

We all pay what we owe according to the law. Trump didn't break the law - he took legal advantage of the law. So the answer is the law needs to be reformed so rich people can't take advantage of it!

Tax reform is the winner!

This is probably the wrong site for that, I'm thinking.

6. I disagree - many support Trump because he is perceived as a brilliant business man

These papers prove that he lost nearly a billion dollars with his businesses. Many financial experts have for years discounted Trump's claims about his net worth and this lends credibility to those doubts.

In addition, Trump has been hammering away at the percentage of the American people who "don't pay their fair share" - these forms indicate that Trump hasn't paid his "fair share" for decades, despite his purported immense wealth.

This undercuts Trump's primary attraction - the supposed self made man who got no help from anyone to get to the top. Instead it proves Trump was major loser and only managed to claw his way back with HUGE tax breaks from the government.

The story is Trump is using loopholes to report -1 billion in earnings while he is really making bank therefore he is dishonest.
