How is giving in to the "style" idea wise?

Just ignore their claim that Pence won on style. Call it for what it is. Its pure spin.

And it's not true. Shaking your head is not an indicator of style.

And any style display is not a valid debate winner.

It's a debate method and he used it very well. It doesn't matter whether or not what you say is true it's how you say it. You have to look like you know what you're talking about and he did that. It's also being able to deflect what your opponent is talking about and talk about what you want to talk about. That's what he did, that's what Romney did in his first debate against the President in 2012. By that measure, Pence won.

Most people aren't going to remember what was said, they'll remember who said it and how. If they remember at all. Vice presidential debates aren't generally held in that high of regard.

What happens on Sunday is going to matter 10 times more.

people don't trust the other voters and assume they are stupid. Like they watched the debate and were lulled by "style" into voting for Trump. Who is that dumb?

I vote on substance. Actual policies regarding what I think is best for the American people. If my candidate wins on style, then great. If they don't, I really don't care too much.

If my candidate wins on substance and style, I'll still vote for my candidate.

If my candidate wins on substance and loses on style, I'll still vote for my candidate.

If my candidate loses on substance and wins on style, I'll consider voting for the other candidate.

If my candidate loses on substance and loses on style, I'll consider voting for the other candidate.

There's an old saying in law: if you're winning on facts but not the law, argue the facts. If you're winning on the law but not the facts, argue the law. If you're winning on both the law and the facts, unless you screw it up big time you'll win. If you're losing on both the facts and law, your case stinks and you'll have to find some other extraordinary way to win. I think Trump / Pence lose on substance and in the case of Trump on style too. Their policies stink to high heaven.
