2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHRC is a very strong candidate, but I am glad Trump is a trainwreck.
At this point, I think we are seeing reverse partisanship at play. Voting for president isn't about choosing the most qualified candidate to lead the country.
Most people supporting Trump are just sending the message that they don't want to support Democrats and supporting Trump is the most irritating way possible to show that support. It's a free protest vote because Trump will lose and they get to be irritating.
Of course about 20% of Americans probably support his stances and hate word-for-word and I don't know what to think of that.

(22,669 posts)cause Republicans to stay home as if this election were just a mid-term? If Rs are turned off, why would they even show up to vote in the numbers they traditionally do in General Elections?
We could see a monstrous swing, post election, come November 9th.

(15,438 posts)reason. Even Don-the-Con said the only true words he's said all night last night - at the end: she's strong, she's a fighter. She doesn't quit.
She would've defeated any Republican they put up against her because she's strong, a fighter, and she doesn't quit. Also, she knows how to hit back harder when unfairly attacked. She knows which closets have skeletons and where bodies are buried when it comes to her adversaries...and she's not afraid to use them against them.
Just the kind of statesman/stateswoman we need.
