Am I the only one thinking the GOP is going to see some Reps. switching party over Trump?

It sounds like RNC leadership is pushing for solidarity with Trump and there are some who are never going to support him. I'm wondering if this leads to some lawmakers leaving the Republican party and becoming Independents, which would help give Democrats a majority.

I haven't seen anyone else bring up this possibility.

Certainly not me. Other than a few charlatans who have made a lot of money off of pandering to rubes and idiots, I can't see why anyone would be a Republican.

So I have no idea why they even exist any more.

That's not going to happen. The Ideological divide between the parties is too large. Right wing groups have been targeting so called Republican moderates in public office and there aren't many left, if at all.

Trump is going to lose, and lose badly, which is the best thing that can happen for establishment Republicans. Then they can say to their rank and file - See what happens when you go rogee and nominate someone like Trump. I still think they will have a rebellion on their hands, but if Trump were to win, I have trouble seeing how the GOP survives.

If Trump had some real 'dirt' against Republicans who attack him, that would stop them cold.

But all he has are word-salads and you know what they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words". That's why Jeb Bushes cousin Billy released the pussy grabber video last week. That was a planned Republican attack against Trump.

There's aren't really that many moderate Republican House members left. And those that are are the most likely pickoff targets for the Democrats.

The new Republican Party has been taken over by Teabaggers and now the Alt-White fascists. It's both becoming more extreme - and because of that - smaller. I suspect the more moderate republicans will slide into the "independent" category rather than embracing the policies of the much more progressive Democratic Party.

I think becoming a Democrat is just a bridge too far for most rank and file republicans.

I'm of the belief the republicans will remain republicans with the hope that Trump becomes private citizen Trump again. Although, after he gets defeated, I look for Trump to be a bigger thorn to the GOP establishment in the future. I think that's who he'll be more vindictive against post-2016.
