Related: About this forumKos: Trump is hoping red shirts intimidate voters in minority communities
Should Hillary get elected she is immediately delegitimized, said California RNC Committeeman Shawn Steel in an email. The 1% of Wall Street Bankers, Clinton Machine and [mainstream media] including your employer, Politico, is part of a massive Left Wing Conspiracy to rig this election.
If Trumps goon squads can scare enough voters away from the polls, its all good. If not, then Hillary is delegitimized because everything was rigged.
Its a cant-lose plan. Except for all the losing.

(11,243 posts)GOP has done this for years. Liberal groups in my state seem to be ready. They have been aggressively recruiting and training their own poll watchers since before the primary. Red shirts are one problem, but easy enough to identify. A bigger problem is poll workers intentionally or unintentionally disenfranchising legit voters. That can go under the radar if you don't have enough boots on the ground at the actual precincts.

(15,262 posts)Not just deter people from showing up, but also make the ones who do need to return to work simply turn away when these see the wait time.
In my state they did away with straight ticket voting for that exact reason. It takes longer to fill out a ballot so lines are longer and a percentage of people will leave without voting.
The voter ID law was overturned by the courts. That obviously was designed to disenfranchise black voters, but it also took FOREVER to do the verification process (we did have it for the primary), so the secondary purpose was to gum up the works and cause long lines and confusion on election day.

(11,949 posts)It hides blood which will be needed if they try to prevent Americans from voting.
I have not physically attacked anyone in over 30 years. But if someone tried to physically stop me from voting I am afraid my anger would get the best of me.
And there is no history of voter suppression in my white family. I can only imagine the rage that could engender in a person of color. But again, I have no real knowledge of that.

(15,278 posts)I was a judge of elections in Philadelphia when the city transitioned from the old mechanical level voting machines to new automated machines. The city put out all kinds of info about the new machines and even had machines stationed in libraries and other locations so voters could get acquainted with using them. The first election with the new machines happened to be the mayoral primary, so all the election board members were trained and ready to do some OJT with voters. I didn't think many Philadelphians would pay much attention to the outreach. Boy was I wrong. When voters came in, we offered to show them how the new machines worked, but nearly every voter told us they'd read the material or tried out the machines and knew what they were doing. It was extremely impressive. Voters really did pay attention! And the biggest problem? Just walking out of the booth through the curtain because they were so used to pulling the vote lever and having the curtain automatically open.
I think in Texas or wherever, voters will know before they even get to the poll what they need to do to vote.
