2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJoe and Mika saying they have always been against Trump....
Mika says she has supported Clinton....just being a journalist and asking the hard questions. Joe saying he said he would not vote for Trump a long time ago. They must be getting savaged online.

Those two songs are quite apropos for this time as well!
My favorite modern composer.
Gonna have to load up my new mp3 player with this another appropriate music in case I have to stand in line voting.

(12,381 posts)when Copland was the guest conductor back in the early sixties. He included some of his compositions that were frankly quite strange and, as the concert master later remarked, difficult to distinguish the melody from the orchestra tuning up.

(12,381 posts)Time and tide has erased the title from my memory, but in truth, the entire orchestra agreed with the violinist. Still, a nice memory.

(24,324 posts)In the late 40s and into the 60s Copland started using serial techniques, incorporating them into his otherwise rather bland harmonic pallet. Maybe you encountered one of these..

(24,324 posts)As resounding as the Fanfare for the Common Man is, I have played it so many times.. ugh.. not again! Being retired I am off the hook. :> ) Actually, it is a great balls to the wall little piece when in the right hands...but greatly overplayed. (ike the Barber Adagio For Strings.)
--or, Appaloosa Spring ( as we call it), :>
But, that's from the back of the orchestra.. or brass section.....
But I jest. It is a wonderful ballet. As is Billy the Kid.
Check out the Christopher Rouse FLUTE CONCERTO. I know both he and Carol Wincenc, who has recorded it. Chris' Trombone Concerto won a Pulitzer.
Let's keep the thread hijacked. much more interesting than TV entertainment newsey shows, is it not...

(14,564 posts)I have been a long standing sufferer of the shitshow who has given up on them during the general in 11 after they did the same kind of jackassery against BHO - see regular standing POS saying he was a "dick"
.I went cold turkey and did not watch them for four years until this year's primary, and I peeked in during a week where they were knocking Trump pretty good, but since then it has been acid reflux nearly every day with their twisted way of propping the dolt up while gleefully trashing Hillary.
Last week I had my fill and tuned into CNN and "discovered" Cuomo, and I have watched them every day, and seen him openly pushing back on the bullshit against Hillary.
I have repeatedly called for folks here to join me in getting off the MJ roller coster - dropping them completely, going to New Day AND e-mailing MSNBC and letting them know you will never against watch MJ, while supporting Cuomo and New Day.

(58,785 posts)in during the campaigns to see what they're saying--because they are wired in. Not every day, not even every week, and I'll have no problem dumping them entirely, probably next spring when the new government settles in and things calm down.
No cold turkey needed, turning them on is no pleasure to be denied and, no matter how they may redye their feathers, I am terminally disgusted with them. Btw, OD'ed-and-gone this morning on maybe 10 seconds of an angry Joe mirroring Trump's own deluded dishonesty.

(6,819 posts)Joe and Mika help create the Trumpinstein monster by giving him so much free air time last year and not asking him any hard questions.
They are STILL being apologists for Trump.
The whole time slot should be turned over to Willie Geist, who can keep the parts that are worth keeping.

(781 posts)MSNBC's "Morning Joe" co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski argued Thursday that they had not been accommodating to Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign -- an attempt at revisionist history contradicted by hours of footage from their own show.
EV_Ares
(6,587 posts)they say. If they were very good journalists which they are not, it would not even be a question in people's eyes & ears who they support. They are constantly talking about how well they know Trump like it is some kind of a badge of honor they are so well connected to him.
If Mika supports Clinton so strongly, she would not be basically attacking her every day on the show. She is totally dishonest about that.
Also, if they don't support Trump, then why do they run to his defense every time & their display of yesterday reeked of desperation, flailing about trying to defend his remark about accepting the election.
They are every bit as narcissistic as Trump is, they all belong together in the same basket.
Cosmocat
(14,564 posts)I can't even begin to communicate how much disregard I have for her over Hillary.
She constantly pats herself on the back for being some great woman's advocate while a minute later chastizing Hillary for being oer confident or some similar kind of bullshit.
She will meekly and quietly say she voting for her, then launch into deeply emotional distriabes over every single fake "scandal" the right wing has ginned up against Hillary.

(21,740 posts)Common sense should tell us that since more people support Hillary than they do Trump, it would be better for ratings to lean toward her to attract the most viewers. Instead, they tend to be all-Trump all the time and alienate viewers.
They gave up on just reporting the "news" a long time ago and now simply back the Republicans because they want to compete with Fox and rake in those tax cuts.
Personally, I would rather earn more money to begin with.

(16,104 posts)Their tacit support for Trump - and Sanders over Hillary, the Republican dream election - made me turn them off.
I 'channel surf' through all the cable news networks, and even this morning, these two were acknowledging Trump is not out of line to question election results.
Obviously, MSNBC wants a contested, dramatic, viewer-driving, revenue-generating election and AM Joe is still pedaling furiously.

(17 posts)They have been rude and condescending to participants on their show. If they don't agree with them, they are shouted down. I doubt if Donny Deutsch will ever return after the way he was treated last week. Since he knows Trump well, he often had interesting insights. Joe interrupts those who know a lot more than he does, for example, Richard Haas. Shouting maybe great showmanship, but it does not add to the conversation. They have been particularly hard to watch since their trip to Trump tower a few weeks ago. Blackmail???
