Trump appearance in Tallahassee

I'm not going to go into anything he said - mostly because I simply cannot listen to the man.

But it caused major traffic problems on the east side of Tallahassee - even if Republican votes at the closest early voting site just a couple of miles away were still less than half of the Democratic votes.
Local Trump supporters hoping to flip traditionally blue Leon County

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump took to the stage around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and spoke for about 40 minutes.

His visit to Tallahassee concluded a trip across the state that included stops in Doral and Sandford.

Leon County, a county known to vote mostly blue, did not stop Trump supporters from coming out in droves to see Trump.

Enthusiasm for Trump was at a fever pitch as thousands watched Trump at the Tallahassee Automobile Museum. A much welcomed sight for those looking to make a change in Washington.

Video and photos at link - including Trump with hay bales, something I never thought would be together: http://www.wctv.tv/content/news/Local-Trump-supporters-hoping-to-flip-traditionally-blue-Leon-County-398675921.html

The delusions some Trump supporters have! Leon County has twice the number of Democratic registered voters than Republican despite - or maybe because - of all the years of a Republican governor and Republican dominated legislature.

1. Yep I heard

90 east as well as I-10 both east and west was a clusterfuck. Chance of Leon going red? ZERO. It is one reason I live here. Tallahassee is a liberal oasis.

3. Apparetnly I-10 was stopped for traffic on the off ramp there.

When I heard he was going to be there, I went to vote early in the day, about 11:30 AM. As I said a Trump campaign trailer was being really stupid.

The car museum is a terrible place to use for an event that needs to check people in - the pull in space is really short so traffic headaches will always be automatic.

They should have set up their security a good distance inside the gates so they could at least get the cars OFF US 90!

Oh yes - Leon County/Tallahassee will stay BLUE! I do remember when Jefferson and Gadsden were still pretty red, but now they've both gone blue, too. Heck, for the campaigns I've worked closely with the Land Coop which was started by those still very liberal hippies. They are part of what help keep Leon blue.

4. I can't imagine the nightmare that caused. If I had to pick the worst place in Tally..

to hold an event, that would be in my top 5.

I miss my Hometown. I used to go to parties at the MLC back in the day...

5. From some of the comments on one of the pages about the Trump rally

The owner of the car museum models his business practices after Trump's. He is rumored to not pay in full for work done and to leave workers un- or under paid.

I wouldn't be surprised if he "contributed" the use of his facility and expects some favors from Trump in return.

I almost bought into MLC back when they first got started - when Chuck (who later started Mad Dog Construction) building the geodesic dome resulted in Leon County's first building regulations. Between the type of land - too steep and too wooded to make good pasture for horses - and my total disinterest in being part of a cohesive group, I decided I would be better off finding my own place and just being friends with the MLC crowd. Forty years later, that definitely was the right choice for me.

My farm is not too far from them, just up the road toward Centerville Road. If you visit town, shoot me a PM.

A despicable creature. Will never darken the door of that museum.

8. I'll do that. I was invited to join the MLC. Also was not my cup of tea.

To much like living w/ a HOA. I understood the concept and appreciate the what they did, but didn't think I would be happy in that environment.

I'm sure I've met Chuck before. Mad Dog's been around a long time. I have a good friend, Randy and his ex at that time, that lived in a Geo homes.

10. Chuck Mitchell left Mad Dog a long time ago

I was going to have him build our house, but I was told MD no longer does residential building - though there are some still listed as projects on their site.

Trump does seem to get the crowds but I will stick with this from Tim

9. The hay bales really make sense, though.

My grandfather used to spread hay and straw in the stables to make it easier to remove the manure. Afterward, it's all put into the manure pile to 'cook' for a while, then spread on the fields.

(Yep, I've been on a manure spreader more than a few times, and I can recognize tRump's bullshit for what it is.)

Also, I'm not surprised that he draws large crowds. If there is a trainwreck in progress, who wouldn't watch? You have to consider how many of them are just there so they can tell their grandchildren, "I was there when he had his final meltdown, and it was GLORIOUS!!!"

11. I think the hay and pumpkins were just decor

But who knows - maybe the hay did soak up some of that stuff Trump spreads around so <snark> liberally.
