Man Arrested For Wearing 'Basket Of Deplorables' Shirt At Texas Polling Place

A Texas man was arrested Monday for electioneering after refusing to hide his “Basket of Deplorables” T-shirt.

“He wanted to take a stand,” Bulverde Police Chief Gary Haecker told the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung of Brett Mauthe, who showed up to his polling place with a Trump hat and “Basket of Deplorables” T-shirt. “Unfortunately, he was arrested.”

Mauthe told local TV station KSAT that he removed his Trump hat but refused to turn his T-shirt inside-out, saying he was unaware it constituted a violation of the election code.

1. ‘I support you and I appreciate what you’re doing. It’s your right,...' Said the police chief.

Are you fucking serious?

3. He wasn't even wearing a shirt with a candidate's name on it. The ACLU would likely support him...

in any legal action (they've supported people arrested for wearing a shirt with a candidate's name on it in the
past) and as his shirt wasn't even featuring a specific candidate's name I think he'd have an excellent chance of winning.

4. I guess these morons don't realize

that being in the basket means they are bigots (as defined by Hillary).

6. They are bigots as defined by their own words and actions, and proud of it.

Hillary only pointed it out by calling it deplorable.

See the difference?

8. Yes, but my point is that even the half of the rethugs

that don't claim to be bigots are acting like she put them in that basket to. I bet if one of these reporters followed up with the statement, "Oh, so you're a bigot.", they would rethink their position (or they just wouldn't get it). Of course, I think anyone who votes for a confessed sexual predator is deplorable.

9. Probably. It's not a big deal to follow the rules, which is no electioneering inside or outside.

Leave the agitprop to the Trumpites.

10. Arrested for just wearing the shirt?

I'm not sure I agree with that.

Unless he was intimidating people.

11. Here in Ohio we have the same rule...don't wear election stuff.

It could be used for intimidation.
