(7,768 posts)What the hell was she talking about? The CNN host tried to shut her down as best as she could, but she was rapid talking really fast to get this crap out there.
I've never heard that you can have a do-over on your vote. WTF??

(7,768 posts)Wouldn't that border on criminality? Telling millions of people watching CNN that you can vote again? wtf???

(46,020 posts)If vote by mail or in person, your name is stricken from the voter rolls for Election Day.
You COULD raise a fuss of course and be given a provisional ballot on Election Day but the provisional ballot eventually won't be counted.
My guess is Betsy McCaughey doesn't know what she's talking about.

(15,265 posts)In Pennsylvania, the election board gets a list of all voters in that precinct who voted by absentee ballot. If that voter shows up at the polls, either the in person vote or the absentee ballot count, but not both. It never happened at my poll, but iirc the vote cast in person counts and the absentee ballot vote is nullified.

(26,721 posts)There are states where you can replace an earlier absentee ballot if you decide that you made an error. WI is one off them, but you have to "spoil" the first ballot before election day.

(1,375 posts)It was in the news the other day (WBAY Green Bay).
It is a pain in the butt for the clerk, but Wisconsin has a provision that if you vote by absentee you can go to the clerk, and request that they find your ballot, invalidate (or destroy, not sure how it's done) and revote on a new ballot.
You must do this do this before the election, and at the Clerks office only, you can't go to the polls on Nov 8th and say "I already voted absentee, but want to change my vote".
You can actually do it up to three times!

(42,271 posts)Ohio law allows you to mess up your ballot twice and get it fixed but only BEFORE it is turned in. Once it has been accepted, you are done. If you send in an absentee ballot and try to vote again, you will be given a provisional ballot, but the first one accepted is your only vote.
True story--was a paper ballot judge and had a voter mess up by making a checkmark on the ballot instead of filling in the bubble, so that was trash. Gave a second ballot--voter fainted and drew the pen across the ballot on way to the floor. Succeeded with third ballot.
