Isn't it Interesting Some of the Most Progressive Legislation was Enacted under Repubs?
We got the interstate system and the Environmental Protection Agency under Republican administrations. We also got national parks and wetlands preserved for the people.
Teddy Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Nixon and even Saint Reagan would be run out of their party now. They'd be called Socialists and Marxists. It was nice when Republicans still felt the need to govern and represent the people. It's okay to have differences with the Dems. But it's not okay to bring the world to a screeching halt just because you don't get your way Boner, McConnel, Cantor, etc.

1. Yeah, pretty much.
Even Joe McCarthy would be too moderate for some tea-baggers, and he was about as far to the right as they came!

3. Democratic Congresses produced all of those good things. The Republican presidents
were just along for the ride.

4. Roosevelt wasn't just along for the ride.
Creating national parks was personal to him.
He had a great love of the outdoors and pushed to have it preserved. |

7. FDR was originally a Republican. He switched to Democratic primarily for political reasons
If he had stayed a Republican, they would now be the liberals.

8. That was the old sensible
GOP. Sadly that version died out years ago. The dems from a century ago were more conservative than the repubs mostly. FDR was more on the liberal side. There was a split between the conservative and liberal wing of the Dems around 40 years ago. The cons went to the repub party (mainly southern racist dixiecrats) and that's why the GOP are bat shit crazy right now.
