The centrist Democratic Leadership Council, which fought and largely won a battle for the soul of the Democratic party in the 1990s, is on the verge of bankruptcy and is closing its doors, its founder, Al From, confirmed Monday.

Moving to the left didn't work out in my state where ColoradoCare failed miserably 80/20 - even though St. Bernard did his best to get it passed.

He used to be a Democrat. Sanders is an independent who will not join the Democratic Party...so I won't listen to either of them.

when he was being primaried by a far more progressive candidate. That was my first real Barbara Boxer disappointment, and sadly, it wasn't a big shock to me when she did a number on Sanders in the primaries. When you're on the inside you protect your own, that's for damn sure.

But why would you only listen to people with D's on their jerseys? Sense is sense and your reasons for disregarding a position, if you are to be judged just by your words here, are shallow. Would you listen to Wisdom if it were Twain's, or Lincoln's or Chekov's or Jesus's or Jefferson's or Paine's? I don't think any of them were in the right uniform for their words to carry any value into today.

Yes, the question is clearly rhetorical.

progressive legislation and policies re transparency of govt, worker & environmental protections, voters rights, national parks, public works, equality under the law, social security medicare etc.- who is "sliding to the left" by standing up and DEFENDING these things tooth and nail? Ironically, it really is we progressives who are "conservative" in the truest sense of the word - defending the established order - and the extremist far right who is intent on radical transformation of govt and society.
