Combined with the over the top reaction by the Republican SecState of Colorado in response to 2 Dem electors reducing Clinton's electoral vote count by 2... (www.politico.com/...) I'm feeling the tires starting to just maybe gain a little traction...

Trump, however, won enough states to garner 306 Electoral College votes, more than the 270 (out of 538) needed for him to be declared the winner.

Unless …

Thirty-seven people choose not to vote for him.

That’s all it will take: 37.
Is the Trump camp sweating this a little bit? Idea starting to resonate a little? That we can right this wrong with just a little bit of intestinal fortitude?

37 votes can take the presidency from Trump. BUT....

The chance that those 37 voters will vote for Hillary is almost 0% so SHE WILL NOT WIN

If by some chance those 37 voters do vote for some other Republican, which probably is a less than 1% chance, then Congress will choose the President from the top 3 vote getters which would be Trump, Hillary, or some 3rd unnamed Republican. Congress will most likely pick Trump since they stuck with him at the convention even though they could have replaced him then...

So, I'm not sure what you're suggesting, but the chance of something happening are about as good as the recount working out...

It would take 38, not 37, and more than 38 if not all the Clinton electors went along -- so also nothing to hold one's breath about. But the idea would be to keep it away from the House. The 232 Clinton electors recognize that she won't become President. They (or enough of them) decide that McCain or Romney or some other more-or-less-normal Republican would be less bad than Trump. Enough Republican electors join them in voting for the mainstream Republican, whom they prefer to Trump. Thus, the McCain/Romney/whoever type emerges as a bipartisan compromise candidate with at least 270 electoral votes.

Will it happen? Of course not. About all you can say for it is that it's less implausible than finding 38 Republican Party loyalists in the Electoral College to vote for Hillary Clinton for President.

3. I'd hate to see what the Trumpkins do if this happens

I imagine it would be the typical over the top violence we're accustomed to from these knuckle draggers but I would accept that if it didn't mean we had to live with their choice for us as President.

As much as I'd like for this to happen I think it's a pipe dream, we really need to come up with a better plan than convince 37 Republican Electors to risk their lives (and the lives of their families) in order to stop Trump.

Most Republicans I know seem to be content to "ride out" his Presidency but that isn't an option for all of us. While they seem to think they have him under control I think he's just playing nice until he gets behind the desk at which point the magnitude of President Trump will be felt.

9. The plan isn't to give it to HRC, it's to take it from Trump.

Toss the election into Congress by ensuring that nobody has a majority of electoral votes, then NOT VOTE AT ALL to select a successor. Paul Ryan inherits the White House as Acting President without a single vote and nobody to blame.

If that really is the plan, we should expect to see some damaging--truly damaging--disclosures about Trump and his gangsters within the next five to eight days.
