When Republicans Cite JFK's Tax Cuts They Are Not Telling the Whole Story, -here it is-

-snip-
Keep in mind, unlike contemporary GOP policy, Kennedy’s plan distributed “peace dividends” broadly across the wage spectrum. As the Joint Committee on Internal Revenue Taxation explained at the time, the bottom 85% of the population received 59% of the benefits of JFK’s tax cut. The top 2.4% received 17.4% of the tax cut, and the top 0.4% received just 6% of it.

Those on the right who see themselves as descendents of the Kennedy policy are either deeply confused or they assume you won’t bother to learn the truth.
-end of snip-

The top rate pre-cut was around 90 percent. It was 70 percent post-cut.

The JFK cut was pre-paid: the main reason the tax was 90 percent was to pay for World War II. Since we'd paid off the war, the percentage of the tax designated for the war could be cut without harming the country.

The JFK tax left enough money in the economy for robust infrastructure investments, the space program and the soon-to-come Great Society.

Also, JFK's cut stimulated the economy well enough to provide significant job-creation because the cut was fucking huge.

On the other hand...because the GOP's purpose in life is to eliminate all of the government except for the Army and the Border Patrol, they hack and slash and claim tax cuts always pay for themselves in increased economic activity...and guys, a cut from 39 to 37 percent is NOT large enough to create any jobs.
