(24,355 posts)I suppose that you haven't read Al Franken and Michael Moore and how they (often) humorously tell the truth?

(10,597 posts)...feel like I know him...have been listening to him for so long. If by chance anyone happens along this thread and have never heard of him before, 1st where have you been? He's on most NPR stations every Sat at 6PM. Don't have a radio? You can hear him live online at http://www.prairiehome.org around 6PM. Garrison Keillor, Prairie Home Companion. He really has a way with words. A real "down-home" show when it's Saturday evening and you don't have a date or anywhere to go, or when there's 6 feet of snow/ice on the ground and you couldn't go anywhere if you wanted to.
I will warn you...listening to Garrison is addicting. In a GOOD way!

(11,584 posts)Garrison rocks. One of my favorite episodes of PHC was aired last summer. I believe it was from Alabama perhaps Tuscaloosa (he doesnt often do shows in red states). The theme of the show was "Since I've become a republican..." All the skits contained this premise. It was all done tongue in cheek... 'since I've become a republican I am much happier and enjoying my life because I'm not bothered by all these otherwise disturbing social problems like poverty and racism and gender issues...now that I can appreciate that all the less fortunate members of society are to blame for their own circumstances... my life is alot more enjoyable'.
Just awesome satire.
