that the 'children' mentioned are sometimes as old as 19.
And drug dealing is often involved.

Legalize drugs and watch our national crime rate drop.

Marijuana at the federal level? maybe, soon I hope.

Guns and drugs, yes all the time. Dealers tend to rip each other off, robbery with gun is very common for drugs or cash.

Most gun owners and Republican voters care about innocent children, but in their minds they are "protecting" them from a deranged gunman (giving them the ability to defend themselves) and also from what they perceive is a tyrannical government. I totally disagree with their ideas, but saying they all hate children is just opening the door for conservatives to criticize us.

He got some hate mail for it.

I think it's more of a matter of them not caring about children period who are gunned down. The NRA crowd simply lacks empathy, and their only concern is selling more merchandise. This became crystal-clear when LaPierre's only idea at his conference was to put armed guards in every school. He never mentioned anything about making it harder for potentially-violent people to obtain weapons.

It's not that they hate children. They don't feel that strongly about them.

It seems to me that they feel that children are like any other commodity--at times useful and therefore of value, at times not.

I think it goes no further than that.

They just seem to think some loss of life is an acceptable price for "freedom".

I on the other hand think "Freedom" is being able to send your kid to school without having to worry about a fruitbat with an assault rifle shooting the place up. I am more free when these things would never occur to me as a concern, because simply it just never happens here.

I am more free when people are not homeless and hungry.

I am more free when the schools are universally good.

I am more free when the infrastructure simply works dependably.

I would be more free if access to reasonable healthcare was assured.

I am more free if I can go to a movie without worring about some lunatic shooting the place up.

I am more free when businesses are required to pay a living wage so I do not have to pay to feed and house their employees.

The "freedom" to starve cold and alone in the gutter in the midst of an armed encampment isn't all it is cracked up to be.
