Reformng or eliminating the filibuster won't do them much good as long as a Democrat is in the White House. Democrats aren't going to filibuster a Democratic president's nominations, and even if the Republicans bypass the filibuster on legislation, the president can veto it. With current demographic trends and the internal problems of the party, I think the chance of a Republican winning the White House in the near future is rather slim. If the Republicans were to win the Senate in 2014 and eliminate the filibuster, Hillary Clinton might coast into the presidency and have the coattails to dump a few of the crazies that invaded the Senate in 2010 and restore it to Democratic control, and be looking at a filibuster-proof Senate on 1/20/2017, thanks to the Republicans. For that reason, I don't think they'll take a chance on weakening the filibuster until they control both the Senate and the White House. Let's make sure that doesn't happen for a long time.
