Congress is willing to have 6+ hearings and likely spending hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars, on if the IRS was over-stepping its authority about how it went about approving tax exempt status to groups that should have never got it anyway. At the same time, THESE SAME PEOPLE are willing to blindly except that other government organizations should have authority to gather and store information on EVERY AMERICAN that makes a phone call or uses the Internet and just believe that they would never use that information for the wrong reasons...because the rules say they can't do that.
You know, the "rules"...the "oversight"...just like the FBI never abused their surveillance powers during the 50's and 60's...Members of Congress never abused their power to force people to give often false or unfounded evidence against their friends and co-workers about being a "red", a communist or our president, his staff, intelligence agencies and the military would never take part in a operation to sell drugs to buy weapons for a group of people they were forbidden to give weapons to by Congress...You know the executive branch would NEVER lie and force others to lie to the American people, Congress, and the UN by creating false justifications for invading a country in the middle east. Given the exceptional track record of various government organizations for following the rules and using information in their care for only the right reasons, we should trust them now...they would never misuse our phone and Internet records.
