1. Years Ago All Trips Were News
Mon Jun 17, 2013, 09:56 AM

However the cost was never news...not even brought up in polite company. The cost was part of his job and tax payers were willing(even when they disliked the prez) tp have to be part of the deal by tax payer dollars as part of the necessary evil to know that he was doing something to represent us around the globe. We knew it wasn't cheap with all that security and Air Force One etc but, again, it was part of the package tour every time he went globe trotting. It has only been lately that the "bean counters" have screamed loud and hard about the abuse that Obama and company have heaped upon the tax payers. No mention of all those trips to the "ranch" that he predecessor had for national security. It seemed security back then was little more then another photo op around the latest shrubs to be whacked or a quick spin in the old pick up.

4. The article is a hit piece. They also don't describe the nature of the trip. WaPo of HuffPo one

labeled it a vacation. In fact, it's a trade trip. There will be 500 business people in tow trying to stimulate business and relationships. HuffPo reprinted the WaPo article. It came out on Friday afternoon, when people had all weekend to believe the misleading crap put out there before it could be corrected. That isn't the first time I've noticed that pattern. Shame on both the papers. Here's an article explaining the trip.

As a country we need to get real serious about business with Africa. They have tons of natural resources, some of them we need for defense. China is over here buying up the rights and own as much as 75% of the supply of some minerals we need.

5. It's absolutely infuriating...

...in the 8 years that GWB was president, I don't remember any articles about how much any of his trips cost. The cost may have been mentioned in passing, but there was never never any discussion of whether he should be spending taxpayers' money on any of his trips, whether for business or pleasure.

But now that it's a Democrat in office, and not only that but a black President, and if any of them leaves the country -- or even goes to Hawaii -- it's big news and you'll see all sorts of hand wringing about the $$$ they're spending.

It is of course part of the vast right wing wurlitzer, and it stinks.

7. Plus, who says they get the numbers right?

Some Indian blogger made up the Obama spent $200 million a day on a trip to India (he didn't), and Fox Noise not only reported the made-up figure as fact, but kept doing so after it was proved false. Will the othermedia, you know--the "libbrul media"--now start to do the same?

Plus, like sharks, they seem to smell blood in the water and probably think that now is as good of a time as any to strike at President Obama ("hey, let's see how far down we can drag his approval ratings!&quot
