As far as I can discern, Newt Gingrich does only ONE thing well:

ATTACK!!

He attacked Clinton in the 90's, he attacked Romney all this January, he attacked John King this week, and if nominated this fall, you can bet he has a dozen or more vicious anti-Obama zingers he's just itching to trot out. That's what he does, and you have to admit, no one goes on the offensive more readily or ruthlessly than Newt Gingrich.

There's only one problem--Newt is terrible on defense. He couldn't hide his multiple affairs from the world during the Lewinsky scandal. He couldn't avoid censure or losing the Speaker job. He briefly held the lead in Iowa until Romey threw a bit of slime his way and he was so stung he finished in a distant 4th. He folded like a cheap card table when the likes of Hannity and Limbaugh accused him of using "Operation Wall Street" language to denounce Romney as a venture capitalist. My totally nonscientific theory is that a narcissist like Gingrich holds himself in such high regard that any criticism immediately flusters him, knocking him off his own high pedestal. He's just lucky that he was given such a golden opportunity this week to turn up the offense on Romney and the mainstream media so soon before the primary--if given ample time, his opponents will regroup and crush him. Easily.

THAT'S why an egomaniac like him is destined to collapse, and that's why I don't even worry about him winning the nomination. When it comes to a Gingrich implosion, it's not a matter of if--it's a matter of when.

Perhaps that's more or less the same thing, in contrast to Romney's style. Let's hope ol' Newt over-inflates after SC and does himself in.
