1. Never trusted McAuliffee. Many call him a sleazeball. I just call him a Third Way henchman.

3. You have no idea what you are talking about.

First, read the Washington Post article this slanted Salon piece is based on.

Second, Hazel was almost scuttled by Republicans when he was nominated because he was too moderate for their tastes.

Third, Hazel IS a health policy expert...a fact acknowledged by most from both parties.

Fourth, McAuliffe is facing a Republican held house of delegates with a supermajority (67-23). He made it quite clear he was going to try and work with Republicans to get some of his agenda through, including expansion of Medicaid and participating in ACA by setting an exchange here.

Fifth, Hazel has been quite clear he is willing to follow where McAuliffe leads.

Lastly, State Sen Janet Howell who no one in their right mind would accuse of being soft on women's issues recommended to McAuliffe he keep Hazel, praising his experience.

This is getting way more attention outside of Virginia than it is here. There have been very few complaints by Democrats in state about this appointment.

4. There is WAY more to this story. The Surgeon General DOES NOT MAKE POLICY. He carries it out. He

will do as McAuliffe commands, period, or he WILL be gone.

6. McAuliffe is a Third Way corporate liar.

Case in point:

Besides retaining Mr. Mandatory Transvaginal Ultrasound, McAuliffe is already dragging his feet on expanding Medicaid in Virginia.

After spending the campaign talking about how he would use the budget to expedite the expansion of Medicaid in Virginia, he is already backtracking and saying that he wants to work with Republicans instead, so Virginians should know it might take a long, long time...

http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/blog/2013/11/va-medicaid-expansion-still-faces.html?page=all

During the campaign, McAuliffe indicated he might try to expand Medicaid via the budget, the political equivalent of dousing all of Richmond in lighter fluid óRepublicans believe that would violate the law that created the 10-member commission.

Thatís not the tone his transition team is sounding. Spokesman Brian Coy told me he wants to build a foundation for Medicaid expansion, work with both parties and proceed with reforms collaboratively.

McAuliffe would not say whether he would try to press Medicaid expansion by submitting an amendment to the state's two-year budget, which outgoing Gov. Bob McDonnell will unveil on Dec. 16.

Instead, the governor-elect stressed that he has been meeting with Republicans in the House of Delegates and Virginia Senate to find areas of common ground, saying he had heard some "creative ideas" on the issue.

"It's going to be a long process," he said.

Those of us who know McAuliffe and the Third Way predicted all along that he was lying about expediting Medicaid expansion with a budget amendment. Turns out we were right.

McAuliffe is a poster child for Third Way lies and corruption of our party.
