Bachmann: Obama 'Not A King' So We'll Sue Him For Executive Actions

DYLAN SCOTT – JANUARY 29, 2014, 2:41 PM EST

Rep. Michele Bachmann chastised President Obama for his monarchical ambitions after his State of the Union address Tuesday night and warned that House conservatives were preparing to sue the president if he went too far in exercising his executive power.

“He’s the president of the United States. He’s not a king,” Bachmann said following Obama's speech, the Daily Caller reported. “He may think he’s a king, he may declare himself king, but that’s not what he is under our Constitution.”

Bachmann foreshadowed pending litigation if Obama proceeded with the numerous executive actions that he announced during the address.

"If he wants to move forward with this unilateral activity, he better be prepared for the lawsuit that the United States Congress will bring to him," she said, and the National Journal reported that other GOP lawmakers, including Rep. Steve King (R-IA) also voiced support for legal action.

I live in Mpls and my congress person is Keith Ellison - who is great - and the total opposite of Bachman. Plus we have Franken and Amy Klobuchar. No matter how liberal, most places still have a nutjob contingent.

these do-nothings rack up in attorney fees suing the executive. Pass some bills you lame **ses, and not just ones that have no chance in the Senate or another round of repealing ACA.

Reagan to Use Executive Orders to Bypass Congress

With 17 months of his presidency remaining, Ronald Reagan will bank on executive orders and judicial action to implement social policies that he cannot persuade Congress to enact, Gary L. Bauer, the President's chief domestic policy adviser, declared Thursday.

Bauer, the feisty attorney Reagan named to push his social issue agenda, said the President may accomplish some of his goals in such areas as abortion and pornography through a series of executive orders and by his appointment of conservative judges to the federal judiciary, including his nomination of Judge Robert H. Bork to the Supreme Court.

"With a hostile Congress that doesn't show much sign of coming toward us on some of these issues, it behooves us to take the initiative when we can take it," Bauer said.

There are a number of things "the President can unilaterally do," Bauer said, as evidenced by the plan Reagan announced three weeks ago to curb federal funding for organizations and groups that support abortion.
