Dems are on the defensive again in response to allegations that a Clinton comrade was involved in illegal campaign funding. Oh yes, it's feeding, aka ‘silly' season again.

The political world is on tenterhooks waiting for Hillary Clinton, and when there’s even a hint of chum in the water, the sharks come circling.

“Clinton’s Minyon In A Mess,” declared the Republican National Committee. “Another Scandal Emerges From Clinton Land.”

Minyon refers to Minyon Moore, a longtime Democratic activist with ties to the Clintons, who also has alleged ties to Washington businessman Jeffrey Thompson, who just ratted out Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray for allegedly asking him to fund an illegal shadow campaign to help elect Gray.

Is that enough “allegedly” to make your eyes glaze over?

Actually, it’s just convoluted enough to set off the first IED (improvised explosive device) on Clinton’s long and treacherous path to the Democratic presidential nomination. Rule One: Never let an attack go unanswered. Media Matters watchdog group, “Correct the Record,” fired back immediately at The Washington Post, which headlined its story, “Hillary Clinton Adviser Minyon Moore Sought Funds for Illegal Campaign, Court Papers Allege.”

If she doesn't run, what the hell would it matter. I'm not one to defend her, but this article IS silly season.

It is very difficult to even understand what Minyon is accused of -- and there is no direct tie to Clinton. For it to be effective, it would seem that people AT LEAST need to be able to explain quickly and clearly that what she did was something they find beyond the pale.

This almost reads as a canned story -- all they needed was for someone to charge the Clintons with anything. Then they spread the story - as they pretend to be concerned for Clinton.

4. That's nothing new.

The sharks have been attacking the Clintons since the early 90s. If they are now attacking Hillary is because they see her as the most likely Dem. nominee and the one they fear the most. So far, she outpolls anyone they have in their roster (and ours too, for that matter).

If she doesn't run, then they'll just move on to their next target.
