Bryan Fischer tells poor people: ‘Kiss the ground’ beneath the richest 1 percent

As a 99% er, I find this disturbing. ..

On his April 15 broadcast, Fischer opined that President Barack Obama was using the Internal Revenue (IRS) service to “go after the 1 percent.”

“The top 1 percent are funding 30 percent of the government!” the radio host explained. “So, rather than the poor, the low income and the middle class being resentful of these people, they should be kissing the ground on which they walk!”

If they're only paying 30% of our taxes, it's clear proof that they are shirking their civic responsibilities.

5. Top 1% received 21% of income, paid 21.6% of taxes

That's from the (liberal) Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, updated in 2012. That isn't even a progressive taxation.

Note: if you're wondering why they're saying the top 1% got only 21% of income when we've seen higher numbers, I think those higher numbers are about the one percent's share of WEALTH. This is about their taxable income (of course, they know how to shelter tons of their income).

8. Return on investment is not considered income

Many of the extremely wealthy do not have an "income" per se. They make their money off stocks and bonds and real estate and what not. They make a lot more money than 21% I guarantee you.

9. I think I implied that ... but it still disproves the Fischer statement

Even at the most generous consideration of the top 1%--that is to say, counting only their taxable "income"—they still only contribute one-fifth of the taxes the government collects.
