Well, we stupid Americans deserve what we're gonna get

I see the world barreling toward the crisis of worldwide Oligarchy, and I hear on Morning Joe that Dem's are polling bad and are predicted to loose big to Republicans this November.

GEEZIS AITCH KERISTE ON A CRACKER!

With all the six years of Republican hypocrisy and racism and unfairness and especially OBSTRUCTION so large it is outright SEDITION, Americans will now chose to get that crap piled upon them even deeper? Talk about voting against your own best interests! A vote for a Republican in 2014 is a vote for the extinction of the human race.

I'm well informed enough to see whats going on, but frustrated and impotent that nobody I know really seems to care. We're all just desperate enough to hang on to the shrinking stuff we're still holding onto for dear life. They have turned us against each other and have worked really hard the last 30 to 50 years to disenfranchise and alienated Americans from their own government. They have got the bottom 99% fighting each other with stupid wedge issues when we should be revolting and overthrowing the psychopaths that have been corrupting ALL OUR INSTITUTIONS! And they got us addicted to the Kardashiaans or Duck Dynasty or some other mass media sawdust instead of scrutinizing what our Reps are really up to and WHO THEY REALLY SERVE.

We've been played by mean selfish stupid unenlightened ignorant greedy and fearful excessively wealthy psychopaths. I'm a boomer. I was alive when most of our Institutions were in the service of honorable people. AND THERE WAS SHARED PROSPERITY! Now they want it all privatized and turned into more money for them and less for us - NSA, net neutrality, comcast time warner merger, interstate toll roads, fracking, keystone TPP gun control.

Most people I know passively accept our government is no longer legitimate. Chris Hedges has stated it only takes 1% of the population to trigger a revolution. And I enjoy Chris - his historical knowledge of precedents for our time are brilliant. A real big picture view of what is really going on hidden in plain sight.

it will be because they will vote. Democrats, liberals, progressives, etc. have given up. If all those groups did vote then the GOP will lose.

When they lose that will be their end.

Most of our institutions were corrupt from the start, designed to keep power in the hands of rich white guys. In periods of enlightenment, we've slowly made some of them better, thanks in large part to those being oppressed fighting and dying to make them so. But it's a neverending struggle, and as you note, the last half century has been brutal in terms of backsliding towards all of the power and wealth being concentrated back into the hands of rich white guys.

You are blaming the victims. Direct your anger where it needs to go,
money in politics and gerrymandering. Publicly fund our elections and
outlaw gerrymandering and return our government to the people.

The way it is now most feel isolated and alone (as you do) and believe
there is little they can do to change anything. The more we lose the

Tue May 6, 2014, 12:40 AM
May 2014

Well, I never looked at it like that. My ire is not at the victims, but the powerful psychopaths that are doing all this stuff. Including the Goebbels would be proud MSM brainwashing. There are people in America who's entire way of thinking has been created by television! that are highly susceptible to MSM suggestions. Some powerful Oligarchs and their minions planned this government take over. In service to a perverse and ignorantly selfish non-humanistic agenda. What sort of person would buy politicians to make sure it's more for them by taking from us? I find that so unfair as to be unthinkable.

In the end I think it's all about morality. Aren't we all supposed to leave the world a better place than when we came? Isn't the measure of a person what they do for future generations? What about the greater good and the pursuit of happiness? I want the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness that was the dream of the founding fathers for all of us. Can't we move forwards and be better than back sliding into the cut throat middle ages?

There' 99% of us and 1% of them and they're cleaning our clocks and driving us all into lives of economic servitude. Slavery would be another word. What sort of human being would want to regress the world back to the lives of the middle ages? Where is any good in that? The Elites are not good people. They are morally reprehensible. They should read up on the French Revolution.

"We haven't done much because Republicans have blocked us."

Obama mentions Obamacare from time to time, but mostly he prates about how Republicans have prevented Democrats from getting anything done. "Yeah, we're the good guys, but in six years we haven't been able to kick the asses of the bad guys."

All that does for Democratic voters is make them dispirited. They feel like winning at the polls has done no good so why bother, and they stay home on voting day. What good does it do to win a majority if it only means that you still get your asses kicked by the minority?

A campaign slogan of "We're the majority that gets our asses kicked by the minority" is just not a winning campaign.

The only difference is the Republican media is far better at keeping
their constituents incensed and thus more likely to vote. While offering
them very little in actual "reforms."

The monied interests and their politicians have done a brilliant job of
keeping the focus on the tension between the voting factions and off
of them while they instituted the changes that only benefit them.

The Republican message is twofold.
1. We are kicking ass and winning the battles we are fighting. Voters love to vote for winners.
2. We have plans for tax cuts and making government smaller.

#2 is stupid and destructive, but it's a plan and they make it sound good. It isn't simply whining about losing to the other side, which is what Democrats are doing.

They are the constituents who gain the most from tax cuts and smaller government (less regulation).

They keep their voters energized with emotional tactics but have little regard
for their interests. The more power they access the more the more their
benefactors gain. They clearly serve the monied interests (as sadly do the
Democrats) the rest is smoke and mirrors.

I said that it was stupid and distructive, but if you have not heard Republicand presenting their plan for cutting taxes and reducing the size of government you simply have not been listening. Saying that "they do not have a plan" is a sound bite, and an example of why attacking with sound bites is feckless and self defeating. It is easily answered with "Yes we do have a plan, and here's what it is..."

A more successful attack would be "Here are several reasons why your plan is bad for the nation," and then listing them, but that would require (a) listening to your opponent and (b) thinking, neither of which today's political junkie wants to do.

Don't focus on "what do we do if they win?" and the anxiety and fear surrounding if they do. Take what's positive from your message, and spread that message to as many people as you know. Since you are well-informed, you can make an impact on those who aren't.

What I have come to know about "politics" and elections at this point in time ...

Winning elections, especially national elections, relies on a strong negative energy.

The big dem wins were 06 and 08, both elections that were driven by the indisputable epic incompetence and hubris of the Bush presidency.

2010, minus that ... Dems didn't ring the bell and republicans trumped their folks into a flaming rage over, literally, nothing other than a hissy fit over not winning the presidential.

This election, you combine the normal mid term for a second term president with it being a democratic president whose base won't show up for anything other than a presidential, and it simply is not going to go well.

The republican's do one thing really well - keep their crew whipped into a frenzy for every election. Whatever bullshit it takes, they do it. Again, the only thing that has tamped them down was the let down after ginning themselves up to relect the worse president in our history for a second term.

I will vote, but I have given up trying.

No reason whatsoever to support republicans, they are REPEATEDLY, VERY wrong on everything, are mean, vindictive, childish and have changed positions 10 times over to flip to whatever hair brained thing they are into at any given moment.

But, this country absolutely refuses to hold them accountable.

And, the democrats ...

Well, just pathetic.

"Winning elections, especially national elections, relies on a strong negative energy."

Wrong.

The win in 2006 was driven by a promise to stop the war in Iraq, a promise which was not only not kept, but which was so badly not kept that it resulted in an excalation of that war called "the surge." Nonetheless, it was the promise of stopping the war which put Democrats in control of Congress.

The win in 2008 was driven by Obama's messaage of "Change that you can believe in." He specifically eschewed negative campaigning and refused to campaign on an anti-Bush message, and it won.

In 2010 all they had was "The Republicans are blocking all of the wonderfulness of Obama's change you can believe in, so vote for us because we aren't Republicans." And we lost.

In 2012 we ran on "Omigod if the Republicans win again we are all doomed" and we lost again.

You cannot win in the long run simply by frightening people about your opponent. It simply demoralizes your own side, which decides that the other side may be bad but "we got nothing" so what's the use.

Except that I am right.

"You cannot win in the long run simply by frightening people about your opponent. It simply demoralizes your own side, which decides that the other side may be bad but "we got nothing" so what's the use. "

Except in the long run, my entire adult life of over three decades, this has been the republican MO and they have won more elections than they have lost.

On average, the only time they lose is when they are so fricken bad it can't be glossed over, which was the case in 06 and 08.

I have fought this long and hard and put skin in the game, and I started where you were. When the dust settled, I have been left with the simple reality that people in this country are too comfortable, which leaves them on the margins more succeptible to the republican bullshit than any kind of "positive message.

I have no interest in getting in a pissing battle with a good dem over this and appreciate your positive outlook and that you still believe in a more positive way.

We can hope that you win out ...

is that Republicans actually try to do the things they promise during their campaigns (as messed up as those things are), while Democrats promise one thing and then try to rationalize to their voters whey they did something completely different.
