Where do we go from here?

The thing I've always pushed back against may be happening to me: I may not be able to care so passionately any more.

I just don't think I can take it. I'm getting old. I have high BP. I need to manage my stress, take care of my health.

Maybe I will just care for my little corner of the universe - family, pets, friends, environment.

I've spent my life impassioned by politics, and lived it, in my career and volunteer activities. I don't know what America is, at this point. Our ruling party, which so many support, stands for greed, selfishness, exploitation, intolerance. I'm not strong enough to fight it any more, sadly.

I don't say this to be maudlin, and I suppose I'll be flamed. I just say to share, to vent, and to seek ideas on how to manage my terrible disappointment tonight.

1. Take a break from politics

Pay no attention to it whatsoever. Unsubscribe from every political emailing list, don't visit political blogs, nothing. Focus on yourself and your family. In time, things will eventually start to turn back our way again and then you can wade back into the water.

We get better leadership, better candidates and better organization. Either that or we die as a democracy.

And we trumpet our accomplishments and their failures since the corporate media won't. The pricks buried their right wing shut down the government antics and we didn't make them pay. Partisanship in defense of principles is no vice as FDR demonstrated.

I feel hopeless, literally without hope, that we will ever see our beloved country standing for the progressive principles we've worked for so hard and long for, at least not in my lifetime.

What's the point any more? If people can actually look at people like Jonie Earnst and Ted Cruz, etc etc and say that's who I want representing me?

If people can hear physicists, biologists, the UN and even the freaking Pentagon for God's sake saying Climate Change is real and is reaching the point of irreversibly, but ignore all of them because Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly told them Al Gore just made it all up, what's the point?

You can't fix Insanity or Stupidity.

It be one thing if it was just one region but it's not. All but my sister and one cousin in my family is Puke and I live in freaking New York State supposedly a last blue bastion, and even our Governor is only a Dem lite.

This is a civilization that consists of a population where over half don't believe in basic scientific truth anymore, who believe everything Faux Noise tells them, who don't even understand the definitions of socialism, communism, and capitalism let alone how they work, who think all their problems are caused by women, African-Americans and Spanish speaking immigrants, I could go on but what's the point.

They don't want to learn or grow they are happy in their own little Faux fantasy land where even if they screw up and kill this planet with pollution some kindly little old white dude with a beard is going to come down and take their righteous selves to his mansion in the sky.

As long as they get to vote too there is no fixing this. That's all I can think right now. I can't see what's left to hope for? Maybe that a comet or an Asteroid gets us before the effects of slower killing climate change?

Hate to believe in conspiracy theories, but it starts with defunding education.

It's not hard to imagine how a democracy could turn fascist without too much difficulty.

that's why the Republicans want to defund education. The more ignorant the voting population becomes the better it is for them.
