Boehner's challengers: Gohmert, Yoho

this ought to be fun

Washington (CNN)At least two conservative hard-liners are now offering themselves up as candidates to unseat House Speaker John Boehner.

Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Florida, said this weekend that he won't support Boehner as speaker when lawmakers vote Tuesday, and offered himself up as an alternative. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, did the same thing on Fox News' "Fox and Friends Sunday."

"Well, we have heard from a lot of Republicans that, 'Gee, I would vote for somebody besides Speaker Boehner but nobody will put their name out there as running so there's nobody else to vote for,'" Gohmert said.

"Well that changed yesterday when my friend Ted Yoho said 'I'm putting my name out there. I'll be a candidate for speaker,'" he said. "And I'm putting my name out there also, today, to be another candidate for speaker. All people are welcome, unlike what some of the establishment people are saying."

2. The only real issue is whether they can deny Boehner a first ballot victory

"WASHINGTON Rep. Marlin Stutzman, the Indiana congressman who accused party leaders of misleading him on a major vote last month, will not vote to re-elect Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, as speaker of the House.

Stutzman, a Republican from Howe, said Monday that voters in November "voiced their displeasure about the dysfunction that plagues this town."

"They want new leadership in Congress that will stand up to President Obama's big government policies and advance a common sense conservative reform agenda so that opportunities to succeed can be expanded for more Americans," Stutzman said in a statement. "I gave my word to my constituents back home in Indiana that I would do everything I could to bring a fresh start to Washington. My word will be kept and I am hopeful tomorrow's vote will help bring that fresh start."
