Jeb Bush Endorsed Airline Whose DC-9 Crashed with 5.5 Tons Of Cocaine Headed for U.S.

((This is a strange little story from 2006-2007 that was being dug into by a muckraking website based in Florida. I can't recall ever hearing about it in the mainstream press. There are even tie-ins to Iran-contra and 9/11. Some things were never fully explained in the first article, such as: How did Jeb Bush's Florida transportation department manage to put a drug-running airline company in charge of airport security?! I suppose it may have something to do with the fact that the plane was later found to have been owned by a major donor to-- President George W. Bush! It just seems to highlight the corruption of the Bushes... and Jeb in particular seems to have a talent for hooking up with crooks who later get busted...))

Jeb Bush Endorsed Drug-Running Florida Airline, FAA Stonewalls Releasing Ownership Records

by Daniel Hopsicker (June 22, 2006)

Less than two weeks before the company declared bankruptcy which owned the DC9 recently busted in Mexico with 5.5 tons of cocaine onboard, Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s Department of Transportation issued a press release touting the firm’s bright future in Homeland Security and announcing it had been selected to be the state’s primary provider of airport security applications.

This is not the first time Jeb Bush has been involved endorsing a drug trafficking aviation company. Nor is it the first time SkyWay Aircraft has been the recipient of unexplained government favoritism.

The Federal Aviation Administration, for example, has been doing SkyWay a major solid…

Two months and eleven days after the firm’s American-registered DC9 was caught carrying 5.5 tons of cocaine in Campeche, Mexico destined for distribution in the U.S., the FAA is still stonewalling requests for the release of what are—by statue— public records of the registration and ownership of the plane.

In a twisted perversion of the U.S. Government’s so-called War on Drugs, the FAA is “Just Saying No” to the American people, who are not allowed to know if an American Drug Lord may have been responsible for the last doomed flight of “Cocaine One.”

(Yes, this is my website. I am trying to aggregate Jeb Bush campaign news along with the history of the dirt under the fingernails of ALL the Bushes... thus the aged story being re-introduced here.)

as anything that drove a Dem out of office.

It's sort of a corollary of IOKIYAR.

It's almost impossible to shame a GOP, they always have a 'get out of jail' card. As far as independents go, it's really hard to see what offends them.

I remember the disenchantment in years gone by that kept GOP away from the polls. Packwood assaulting women staffers and the guy having affairs with Congressional pages.

Back then, GOP would resign from office for 'moral offenses' but the Tea Party doesn't care what their candidates do. No criminal acts faze them. They only want results.

a sledgehammer to the noggin?

But seriously... I think issues having to do with moral failings, shady business dealings and connections to hard-drug dealers should be matters that go beyond any party affiliation or ideological bent, and ought to be effective with those of more conservative persuasion, particularly the religious. I mean to cover those kinds of topics as well as possible, hence the "Dirty" category pages for him and his relatives.

As far as the family's war-mongering and anti-civil-liberties history goes, I can only cover that from the Left-libertarian angle and remain true to myself, and the Democratic base will respond to it. I've given it some thought already, and my role can only be to attack Jeb Bush from the left, (as far as websites and social media are concerned...) There will be more than enough people attacking him from the right who can do it with sincerity, but they may be unable to keep him from the GOP nomination.

In the last general election, we clearly won by turning out our base and keeping defections to an absolute minimum. Getting many GOP votes was obviously a non-starter, and there are hardly any true independents left to worry about, who don't really already lean to one party or the other. I don't expect things to be much different in 2016, other than demographics favoring us even more... but I am proceeding with the expectation that Jeb Bush will be the Republican nominee. However, that doesn't mean I may not find another way to interfere more directly in his campaign for the nomination...

I have suddenly become very interested in doing some research on independent committees and PACs and robo-calling...

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone!
