I am no longer donating to the DNC, DCCC, or any of the other aggregators of $. I only

will donate to individual candidates directly. The bulk of my donations will go to primary candidates. My $ are extremely limited anyway. That way, I will know my $ won't be used on any third-way candidates. I hope the party apologists, third-wayers and such won't be butt-hurt. Eventually the party will figure out where their base is, and where the American people are as a whole. I hope it is sooner rather than later. It's getting pretty late as is.

But part of Liz Warren's power is that she has raised an awesome amount of money. I'll continue to donate directly to progressive candidates for exactly that reason: it increases their power.

When I get messages asking for money, I try to ensure it is somehow connected to Warren. It could be a "message from her" or it could be her raising money on her own. Sometimes it might only be $5 or $10, but you know they track which email or letter brought in more money, or got more "hits". It is a clear message to the people who run campaigns where the center of power is.

that same decision several elections cycles ago. The DCC and the DCCC let Daryl Issa run unopposed. His Democratic opponent ran with less than $10K against Issa's $1.5 million, yet did get 39% of the vote. I consider that a potentially up for grabs Congressional District.

I donate to local charities instead.

I assume you think I can somehow undo the gerrymandering, and the dispersed Democrats into red states by the thousands during the war on unions in the north back in the 80's and 90's, but I'm sorry I am just one man and that's a heavy lift. I will just have to settle for my little ole $20 closer to home.

The national party funnels money to candidates based on previous district performance and the candidate meeting certain metrics. Even with a dumb as shit GOP congresscritter who's been there since I was a baby, I know and accept the DCCC will not be targeting my district.

If the DCCC knows that the Democrat typically loses 60-40 then unless the candidate is extraordinary and the Republican says stupid shit, chances are the district will not get national attention. There's only so much that can go around.

Brooklynite, can I send you a PM about something?

I'm in NJ - and we saw an almost flawless liberal/progressive Gov. candidate deal with a National Party that just wanted to roll over and throw their hands up in the air at Christie.

I almost think they did it (ignored her) just to keep him relevant for 2016.

In the meantime - the people of NJ suffer.

We got the message loud and clear from the National Money People - we are only good at the 11th hour in a Presidential election and they'd throw us under the bus for said election. Good enough. Gotcha. Loud and clear.

So, I've taken my money and in 2014 directed 5 figures to the candidates I wanted to. I'll be doing the same going forward.

National Democratic Partys Fundraising Committees don't have a clue about NJ - and why we have such strong pockets of conservatives in the state.

"Well then find and fund a progressive candidate.." gets barked at you, and then when one is ready to go...they can't be bothered.

To hell with them. My money and time goes to good progressive candidates locally. The national money people get gobs of money, they can live without mine.

Every cent spent on Kovach in the NJ - 7th was appreciated and put to good use.

Blue State folks have zero guarantee that some candidate in some supposed competitive race (think Grimes in KY) actually even appreciates the donation.
