Mike Honda nods off in Congress

http://www.mercurynews.com/scott-herhold/ci_27626263/mike-honda-nods-off-congress

To quote Dave Barry, I am not making this up. By nodding off before the camera, U.S. Rep. Mike Honda, a solid progressive vote and one of the nicest men in Congress, might just have handed Ro Khanna a winning issue if Khanna runs against him again in 2016.

On the House floor last Friday afternoon, Honda dozed off before the CSPAN cameras as his colleagues debated funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security....

The 38-year-old Khanna has browbeaten Honda on his attendance record, the meager number of bills he has enacted, and his stance on Silicon Valley issues. Those attacks rapidly fall into the warrens of nanotechnology and the repatriation of money earned abroad. Sleeping in session is something everyone grasps.

Think of what a talented consultant could do with this shot: If the piece is positive, it could simply show Khanna with the words: "Vote for Ro: He'll stay awake for you."

Old dude nods off? Maybe he's up all night with prostate trouble or heartburn. TwilightGardener Mar 2015 #1

Well, we're all human, and people do nod off in boring speeches and meetings. TwilightGardener Mar 2015 #3

Geez, it happens, people. I've nodded off at work on my night shifts.

Perennial district-shopper Khanna played the age card last year, and in fact, settled on Honda as the Bay Area incumbent to challenge precisely because of the age thing.

Doesn't mean the guy isn't doing his job, any more than his having to run to the bathroom during the speech, or having to take a sick day here and there, means he isn't doing his job. I hope this angle of attack doesn't work.
