Mitt Romney didn't just want an individual health care mandate when he was governor of Massachusetts, he wanted to publicly shame companies who didn't provide insurance with a quarterly ad in the lamestream media. When Romney's term as governor ended, his staff deleted emails from a server computer, seemingly wiping them from the public record for good. But The Wall Street Journal's Mark Maremont found a cache through a public records request. Romney used a private Hotmail address to discuss how to negotiate with Democrats to pass the legislation. Maremont's find is fascinating as it shows how much Romney was involved in negotiations and how passionately he argued for the individual mandate, the one part of Obamacare that conservative voters hate most.

(12,272 posts)1. The Associated Press is reporting this as a possible hacking
WASHINGTON (AP) Authorities are investigating whether Mitt Romney's private email account was hacked, his presidential campaign said Tuesday.
The website Gawker reported Tuesday that an anonymous hacker had signed into Romney's personal Hotmail account. Gawker reported that the hacker guessed the answer to a security question about Romney's favorite pet in order to gain access to the account and change the password. The anonymous hacker told the website that Romney's account on DropBox, a file sharing service, also was compromised.
Romney's campaign said that "proper authorities are investigating this crime." Campaign spokeswoman Gail Gitcho refused to comment further and would not say who was investigating. She also would not say whether Romney still uses the Hotmail account.

Maybe so Rmoney's team can quash the information?

(11,893 posts)2. Of course.
The mandate was a republican-generated idea fathered by Newt Gingrich, so of course they love it. They want Americans to be slaves to the lightly (at best) regulated health insurance companies. The more claims that the companies deny, the more people they kill off. They're serial killers. Republicans want to cut down on the population, and this is one way to do it. Between claims denials and people who can't even afford insurance, we have 100,000 deaths per year, which should be unheard of in a first-world country.
Single-payer NOW.

(13,776 posts)3. was what he was doing with e-mails even legal?
Didn't Sarah Palin get in trouble for conducting government business through a private account? And is it legal to delete e-mails from the official account he used as governor?
