Change the maroon to red and the purplish blue to blue and its obviously a design based on the Confederate Battle Flag. Clearly a racist http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251450837

Obviously a dog whistle to his white Southern base.

And note he's leaning to his right, indicating to all who are paying attention that he is, well, duh, right-ward leaning. It's also to make the blue bars with the white star-like things slope upward at an angle, just like the upward sloping blue bar of the Confederate flag.

If he leaned further to the right, the downward sloping blue bars would also look more like the downward sloping blue bar of the Confederate flag. But of course he'd have to lean so far as to fall over to make this really clear.

But observant people pick this right up. They know his "socialism" is really "back to the plantation" where Massah aka Big Government will take care of everything. That is "Socialism with Southern Characteristics". Zero percent unemployment on a plantation, you know.

His leaning to the right is also apparently to try to hide the U.S. flag behind him. Certainly it is no coincidence that the U.S. flag -- which he and most of his fans consider to be the "Flag of Northern Aggression" -- is blurry and out-of-focus. I mean, hell, he might just as well have been photographed sitting on it, but that would be a bit too obvious.
