Related: About this forumRomney's dickish use of the terms "Democrat President" and "Democrat Congress"
instead of the proper term, which is "Democratic", is just more proof that he's still the obnoxious bully he's been since his youth.
That is all.

(17,320 posts)term "Democrat Party". That's because the word "Democratic" connotes something that follows Democratic principles, which used to be much revered all around the World for Centuries.
On the other hand, the "Democrat Party" is used to steer away from the beautiful word "Democratic". The original use of Democratic was as an adjective. The Republicans use the word "Democrat" as a derisive noun. It is intended as an insult, sort of like saying "The Dirty Bastards Party".
I know that everyone on DU already understood all of this. I just wanted to delineate a bit.

(20,616 posts)decades. Safire's New Political Dictionary states: "In 1955, Leonard
Hall, a former Republican National Chairman, began referring to the
'Democrat' rather than the 'Democratic' party, a habit begun by Thomas E.
Dewey. Hall dropped the 'ic,' he said, because 'I think their claims that
they represent the great mass of the people, and we don't is just a lot of
bunk.'
The University of Virginia's Atcheson L. Hench said of this usage
in American Speeh magazine: 'Whether they have meant to imply that the
party was no longer democratic, or whether they banked on the harsher
sound pattern of the new name; whether they wanted to strengthen the
impression that they were speaking for a new Republican party by using a
new name for the opposition, or whether they had other reasons, the fact
remains that ... highly influential speakers ... used the shorter
adjective.
Some Democrats suggested retaliating by shortening Republican
to Publican, but the National Committee overruled them, explaining that
Republican 'is the name by which our opponents' product is known and
mistrusted."

(37,326 posts)interviewed on C-Span (where I'm sure he thought more intelligent people would be watching) he used "Democratic." He's the fakest fake I've ever seen.
p.s. Chris Matthews actually mentioned this today! He has also called out Repubs. who said it on his show. I remember when Ron Christie was on his show and he said something about the "Democrat Congress" and Matthews said something like, "Why do you say that? You know it's 'Democratic'!" Ron apologized.

It's contemptible, juvenile behavior. Next they'll be saying that Democrats have cooties.

(10,893 posts)whenever someone says "Democrat Party" instead of "DemocratIC Party." I said it once on here, and some folks jumped on me for it. But I realized they call us this to delude low-info voters from the fact that our party is more in tune with the will of the majority than the GOPhers. I actually find it more comical than offensive, though, because all it does is make Mitt Rob-me come off as obtuse to the more rational voters.

(54,057 posts)By using "Democrat" where "Democratic" would be grammatically correct, Romney is doing what he is being told to do by Rupert Murdoch and his employees. Romney is saying that he is no more his own man than Mickey Mouse was independent of Walt Disney.
That's Republican "leadership" for you.
