Republicans Outraged as America Ignores Their Sham Eric Holder Contempt Vote

Republicans spent an entire day trying to get America interested in their sham Eric Holder scandal, and surprised no one by finding the AG in contempt.

By a vote of 23-17, the committee voted to send a contempt report to the full House. While that sounds like a big deal, it really isn’t when you consider if Eric Holder is found in contempt by the House, the person who will determine if Holder gets prosecuted will be Eric Holder.

This was the Republicans next to last gasp attempt to try and drum up a scandal to attach to the Obama administration before the November election. The right wing media has been pushing Fast and Furious for years only to be met with a collective yawn by the American public.

The only scandal here is that so called fiscally conservative Republicans have no qualms about wasting taxpayer money on a fishing expedition which they hope will provide the evidence they need to defeat President Obama in November.

p.s. Well if the Republicans spend their time being outraged then at least that gives them something to do since they aren't doing anything productive

I was just about to post this article. I have to hand it to Jason Easley-- he's on top of everything that's going on and he's sharp as a tack.

=snip=

Even the media didn’t bite on this one. Issa was probably hoping for wall to wall cable coverage, but his big moment wasn’t even large enough to make it on to C-SPAN or C-SPAN 2. Issa’s big score was shuttled off to C-SPAN 3, and the cable news networks gave the vote itself scant live coverage.

In short, even the media was bored by such overtly partisan hackery.

But instead of "Die Wacht am Rhein," the words are "We Republicans find Eric Holder in contempt of Congress!"

And instead of "La Marseillaise," the words are "The rest of us don't give a flying f*ck about the Republicans' bogus Eric Holder scandal."

The results are recorded--

The G.O.P. Campaign Message in a Word: Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
By JOHN HARWOOD

For President Obama and his party, last week brought another stiff dose of pain: the announcement of 263,000 more jobs lost, while unemployment ticked up to 9.8 percent.

And by all indications, Democrats must endure that form of political torture for at least several more months. Whatever the fate of health care legislation, persistently high unemployment has made “Where are the jobs?” the most potent Republican campaign argument as next year’s midterm elections come into view.

Publicly, White House aides and Congressional leaders have responded with incessant attempts to highlight benefits from the $787 billion economic stimulus package they enacted earlier this year. Privately, Mr. Obama’s economic advisers are sifting options for a new package of tax cuts and other job creation measures to be unveiled in next year’s State of the Union address

2010 Election
The Capitol on July 3, 2010.

Americans will vote on Nov. 2 in the congressional midterm elections. At stake is Democratic control of Congress, which President Obama’s falling approval ratings and the stumbling economy have endangered. Since 1946, according to Gallup, presidents whose approval rating was under 50 percent saw their party lose an average of 36 House seats during midterm elections. Republicans need a net gain of 39 seats to claim the speaker’s gavel, and Obama’s rating has been stuck in the 40s since the spring. Republicans’ chances of taking over the Senate are slimmer—they need to gain a net of 10 seats—though they are still expected to make gains. For example the seats currently held by retiring Democratic Sens. Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, Ted Kaufman of Delaware, and Evan Bayh of Indiana are all seen as likely to flip to the GOP. Another half dozen seats held by retiring Senators—Democrat Roland Burris of Illinois, and Republicans George LeMieux of Florida, Jim Bunning of Kentucky, Kit Bond of Missouri, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, and George Voinovich of Ohio—are also seen as toss-up races, along with the seat currently held by Pennsylvania Democrat Arlen Specter, who lost his primary race. Incumbent Democrats Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Barbara Boxer of California, Michael Bennet of Colorado, Harry Reid of Nevada, Patty Murray of Washington, and Russ Feingold of Wisconsin are also in extremely competitive races.

The economy, jobs, government spending, taxes, and the healthcare reform law are all hot issues this year. Other issues have appeared suddenly, including the conflicts over the so-called “ground zero mosque” and Arizona’s immigration law. Republicans are focusing on what they see as Obama’s failure to repair the economy or rein in out-of-control government spending. Democrats paint Republicans as fear-mongering radicals with extreme views. They argue that the GOP has been taken over by the Tea Party and its favorites, like former

I don't have any problem with the GOP going full out on this. Most of them didn't want to touch this, knowing another stupid witch hunt would make them look even more petty. Now that Issa forced their hand, they'll have to go on the FOX circuit, trying to explain why they've been demanding Holder to provide evidence that proves their allegations correct. Its freakin' hilarious. 'I accuse you of loving to watch Lavern and Shirley. Now prove me right or I'm going to hold you in contempt!' Wow. Speechless.
