Rob Portman (Ohio) as Romney VP Pick?

https://www.facebook.com/CongressmanLance?ref=ts

I actually logged onto Facebook this afternoon to harass my CongressBullshitter but got distracted by a post he made on June 20th . . .

It was a pleasure chatting with U.S. Senator Rob Portman at a Capitol Hill event last evening.

Senator Portman is a true leader in the U.S. Senate on economic and fiscal issues and among Washington political insiders is considered one of the most likely to be picked as Mitt Romney’s running mate.

Thoughts? He's from Ohio. Listening to Sherrod Brown - it appears Ohio is very much behind Obama (policies which lead to job growth, auto industry, etc. etc.) . . . Any Ohio DU'ers know if this guy is super popular. I know the name - but not the 'legislator'.

With the fucked-up financial mess Bush Jr left us in, I doubt if those will be very exciting credentials to the non RW'ers.

From May 2005 to May 2006, he was the U.S. Trade Representative. From May 2006 to June 2007, he was Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).4]

I was going to rail on Lance for his statement in response to the ACA but now I think I have something to really needle him with.

BTW - I think they put down the phone and let me rant when I call there now - so facebook is my only outlet to get that punk to listen to meeeeeeeeeee!

If he is selected, fine--we'll go after them for THEIR record on fiscal responsibility--blowing the biggest surplus in history and delivering the biggest deficits.

Portman is nothing to get excited about. Putting him on the ticket will just make Rombo look even more bland and boring. Johnson is a conservative of the first order, and will do whatever Rush & Co. tells him to do. I think he also worked in the Bush administration, enough said! Nothing from nothing leaves two boring white guys with no ideas comcerning what average Americans want and need. Portman will not help him win here. IMHO, Johnson is nothing to worry about, it is only republicans that think he is a cherry that Rombo can put on the top of his half baked cake and that will help him win Ohio....not gonna happen!

Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio has been the leading candidate to be Mitt Romney's V.P. for months. A columnist in the L.A. Times even said a couple of months ago that he had heard from Senior Republicans that it was likely to be Portman and not someone like Rubio or Christie that would be inexperienced and upstage Romney.

They want someone who comes across as smart, steady and reliable. Even boring. They do not want the V.P. to become a spectacle like it did with Sarah Palin 4 years ago.
