For better of for worse, the people who actually run that operation are behind him.

And, as some have indicated in this string, they will find ways to marginalize the Paul people in the convention.

They can do A LOT to control elections across the country, they darn well will find a way to control their own convention.

They will do what they did with McCain, put on a happy face, wave the flag, be self righteous, they will lie and demogogue a pretty darn good president, they will all get breathless about the VP pick ...

The "liberal media" will dutifully and completely ignor the Paul folks, and there will be "bump" for Romney in the polls heading to the Democratic Convention, which they will throw a wet blanket over to try to mute the Democratic convention bump.

That is what that week will look like in a nutshell.

Who would they choose?

If they did would this be worst, for them, than Romney?

For me I would love to see it.

Obviously, the moRons would pick Ron, and they appear to be the largest and most organized dissenting block.

But all the delegates are pledged to vote for the candidate they represented in the primaries on the first ballot, so the moRons will actually be group that puts Romney over the top.

They may, however, have the clout to name a VP candidate, or to veto Romney's choice.

Republican voters never get to vote for the candidate they would actually choose, because Hitler is dead. They're really good at swallowing that bitter pill, so they'll take the choice that is made for them, and that choice is Romney.

However, others have their own interests. Jeb Bush in particular will almost certainly play some political theater. I expect him to sweep in and appear to be trying to save the election, while privately telling Romney hell no I won't run with you. Gingrich will attempt to use his delegates to extort money. Santorum wants more hate in the party planks.

So it's going to be an ugly alley fight behind closed doors. Publicly, though, I expect only Jeb's move to be widely reported.

They will be represented at the convention. How much noise they will make is unknown.
Should RNC 2012 = DNC 1972, the GOP is going to lose.

Failing that they will arrange for paulite rooms to be cancelled or otherwise inconvenienced.
Possibly arrange their rooms to be scattered so they can't meet up with delegates from other states conveniently outside the convention business.
When they are shuttled from their hotel to the convention it could be arranged for it to break down or arrive at the wrong location.

Their credentials will be mysteriously voided electronically so they won't be allowed into the venue.
