Jill Stein wins Green Party presidential nomination

The Green Party of the United States formally nominated Dr. Jill Stein, who campaigned on a promise to create a Green New Deal in America, as their presidential candidate at the party convention Saturday.

Stein had been the presumptive nominee for weeks, an assumption made official in a vote held at the party’s convention in Baltimore, Maryland where Stein defeated activist and actress Rosanne Barr by a tally of 193.5 to 72. She will be joined on the ticket by Vice Presidential running mate Cheri Honkala, the National Coordinator for the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign.

Taking the stage to Bob Marley’s “Get up, Stand Up,” Stein vowed in her acceptance speech to, “turn the White House into a Green House,” and promised to be a true alternative in the presidential contest as a representative of, “the only national party that is not bought and paid for by corporate money.”

1. This comes pretty close to advocating for a 3rd party

and anything that draws liberal votes away from Pres. Obama is something I am not in favor of.

I didn't alert this but I would be surprised if someone else doesn't.

If the OP was ranting on about voting for this person, I might feel differently. I don't see any sign of that.

"On behalf of all Americans who seek a new direction, who yearn for a new birth of freedom to build the just society, who see justice as the great work of human beings on Earth, who understand that community and human fulfillment are mutually reinforcing, who respect the urgent necessity to wage peace, to protect the environment, to end poverty and to preserve values of the spirit for future generations, who wish to build a deep democracy by working hard for a regenerative progressive politics, as if people mattered -- to all these citizens and the Green vanguard, I welcome and am honored to accept the Green Party nomination for President of the United States. 8. From what I understand he was on the Green Party ticket but never formally joined the Party

"In June 2000 The Association of State Green Parties (ASGP) organized the national nominating convention that took place in Denver, Colorado, at which Greens nominated Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke to be their parties` candidates for President and Vice President.

On July 9, the Vermont Progressive Party nominated Nader, giving him ballot access in the state. On August 12, the United Citizens Party of South Carolina chose Ralph Nader as its presidential nominee, giving him a ballot line in the state."

Regardless of his history...I know Green Party members currently that tell me he never formally declared as a member of the GPUSA or any state party affiliate.

9. So then can we assume Nader wont be actively supporting the Green Party nominee?
