http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/16/1110413/-Busted-Now-We-Get-It-CNN-Top-Political-Analyst-was-on-Bain-PayrollRemember last week when CNN's John King was on an all-out defense of Bain Capital? He claimed to have access to key insiders who absolutely guaranteed that Romney left the company in February 1999. Well...today, David Gergen is up with a similar piece entitled: Facts don't support Obama's charges against Romney Hmmm,
1. What is Gergen's evidence and why is CNN working so hard to free Romney from this assault?
2. Why are the insiders talking to CNN and why are they reporting their spin as fact?
Wait, hold on...let me read a little further...bammm! Here it is from David Gergen himself:
"Let me acknowledge upfront what I have said several times on CNN: I have a past relationship with the top partners at Bain that is both personal and financial. I have worked with them in support of nonprofit organizations such as City Year. I have given a couple of paid speeches for Bain dinners, as I have for many other groups. I was on the board of a for-profit child care company, Bright Horizons, that was purchased by Bain Capital. It was a transaction with financial benefits for all board members and shareholders, including me. So, yes, I have a bias."
snip......
anyone surprised? Not me!

1. Is Gergen CNN's source?
2. Does Gergen;'s relationships with Bain cover the years Mitt allegedly wasn't there?
3. Why should we believe his sources are telling the truth?
4. WHAT'S THE POINT OF THE SOURCES REMAINING ANONYMOUS?

(4,835 posts)Used to be we had 'News Outlets' that were friendly to campaigns.
Now the candidate just owns some of the news outlets.
After all; why dick around with sucking up to the press? Own them; then they'll suck up to you.

(602 posts)On an unrelated topic, just curious. If a guy has more than one wife and he gets to play with them all, does that count as "womanizing". Or is it only when a guy plays with a woman who is not his wife (or one of his group of wives) that it count's as womanizing? The reason I ask is because we don't know if Romney has just one, do we. We know the official, on-the-record answer, but as is always true with Romney, there are shadows lurking just under the surface of the spit-shined exterior. Minor point, I'm sure.

(6,440 posts)"He's a Mormon and Mormons used to practice polygamy" doesn't count as evidence, and just saying that we don't know for sure that he isn't a polygamist is the same sort of "logic" that birtherism is founded on.

(4,835 posts)We haven't heard anything negative about Romney from Rush, Hannity, Glen Beck etc.
I'm kind of surprised more hasn't been made of this.

(5,763 posts). . . before Romney became de facto nominee, Rush was hard on him. I don't know about Beck or Hannity. That ceased now that Mittster is the only one left standing.

(4,835 posts)I'm just not sure who 'him' is in this case.
Do you know of anything specific that Rush said?
Blanks
(4,835 posts)A fluff story; Rush is critical of Romney for being positive.

(602 posts)Those three freaks closely coordinate with the Republican machine. I posted here a couple of days ago, asking "which side" Rush would come out on, and got some great responses. My own opinion then, and now, is that silence from Rush and the other two liars means that just behind the curtain, the Republicans are in turmoil and haven't decided how to deal with it yet. I don't personally think that Mitt refusing to turn over his tax returns is the main issue. I do think the conflicting filings and statements with SEC, FEC and IRS are the BIG issue they are having to deal with. Just one point of view...

(7,468 posts)impatient with Romney. They believe that if Romney attacked Obama more, he'd be ahead 3 to 1. Of course, Romney has done nothing but attack Obama. But the right wingers believe the stuff that excites them, Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers and similar stories are key to a Romney victory. There are lots of caller complaints about Romney too.
If Romney doesn't take a substantial lead soon, the anger from the base will grow worse, and there will be pressure on Romney to run the kinds of losing campaign the base thinks would work. The right wingers have convinced themselves that there was no news coverage of Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers in 2008.

(88 posts)This is a must read. Pass this around.
Bain owns Clear Channel. Bain has its board members on the board of Clear Channel - millions of dollars are being funneled to Romney through Clear Channel.
CLEAR CHANNEL SYNDICATES RUSH LIMBAUGH. SEAN HANNITY, GLENN BECK AND MICHAEL SAVAGE.
It's a Romney propaganda machine:

(331 posts)Today I went to their Facebook page and unloaded on them. I am sick of hearing their reporters refer to the President as Mr. Obama and I told them I'm tired of it. I have heard it several times. He is our President. He deserves to be called President Obama or Mr. President but, never Mr. Obama. Why would they do that?

He should be fired from CNN along with their Military Analysts who were also paid for their opinions.
And, that he serves as (FROM CNN) "...a senior political analyst for CNN and has been an adviser to four presidents. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he is a professor of public service and director of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government," is a reflection of how far the corruption has gone into many of our leading universities.
