First Lady Michelle Obama was a hit last evening in Palm Beach

http://www.palmbeachdailynews.com/society/michelle-obama-talks-economy-stumps-for-her-husband-2128312.html

In a town that is a stronghold of the Republican Party, the political demographic tipped heavily the other way at least for a few hours on Thursday.

More than 300 Democrats (“who knew there were that many of us in town?” asked one) turned out to see and hear first lady Michelle Obama as she stumped for her husband at a fundraising reception hosted by Michele and Howard Kessler at their North End home.

Three things about Mrs. O surprised us. Her appearance, for one. She’s tall, she’s gorgeous and she’s thin. Maybe it’s the demands of the campaign trail, but that Jason Wu dress she was wearing was a Size 8, tops.

Then there’s the fact that she’s very mom-ish. She spent a full 10 minutes talking to Emma and Cole Kessler, the hosts’ grandchildren, crouching down a bit as she invited them to the White House Easter Egg Roll. And third, when she talks about her husband — “Your president,” she calls him — there’s fire in her eyes.

Tacky. And so shallow it's almost embarrassing.

There's never nothing of interest in it. One time there was a full page article about some old lady's dog.

Yes, there are some Democrats in town and there's always a parade of politicians trolling for money. It's a win-win for both sides. The politicians raise plenty of cash and the society types get to have their pic taken with a senator, governor or, if they donate a large sum, a president or first lady.

Michelle appears to have mentioned the killing of Osama, Biden brought it up yesterday and Obama mentioned it more than once during his SOTU speech. What gives? It sounds crass and self serving to keep repeating it.

BTW, the Shiny Sheet is called thus because it's printed in glossy paper so as not to stain the delicate hands of the wealthy town denizens.
